Isn’t this the most beautiful lemonade stand ever!

The skies cleared just in time for yesterday’s Puzzles and Playwear Pop-Up. Our afternoon market stall had something for everyone, including cakes, clothes, games, lemonade, puzzles, and scrunchies.

This wonderful Communitas event brought our community together, both in the planning and preparation, and in the afternoon gathering itself. Everyone’s efforts are sincerely appreciated, and we are so grateful for your warmth and congeniality.

Thank you for your donations and purchases, which will kindly contribute to the ongoing improvement of our school facilities.

Ahead of tomorrow’s ANZAC Day commemorations, we came together today to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who have served in the Australian and New Zealand Armed Forces.

We were pleased to welcome families to a commemorative ceremony led by our Upper Primary students. The significance of ANZAC Day was reflected with thoughtfulness and respect throughout the moving service.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended - especially our student hosts and musicians, and ISMS parent Kyle for his poignant rendition of the Last Post.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students organised the event and conducted themselves. Thank you for your respect and support.

Your family’s Montessori journey begins here.

This delightfully prepared environment offers a space for babies, infants, and toddlers, to attend with their parents, supporting the development of their natural curiosity and innate ability to learn. Our Montessori-trained educators provide practical guidance on how to incorporate Montessori principles into the home environment, whilst the children explore and discover hands-on, self-paced learning experiences grounded in real-world activities.

During the first three years of life, a child’s brain absorbs more information from the environment than at any other stage in their lifetime. Join our community of children, parents, and educators to discover how you can help foster this transformative growth.

A celebration of colour in every form!

To wrap up Term 1, we were delighted to host our 2026 Primary Art Exhibition, welcoming families from both Upper and Lower Primary. Our students truly outdid themselves, turning their learning spaces into inspiring galleries filled with imagination, skill, and originality. Take a look at some of the incredible pieces showcased this year!

We are so proud of our students for their enthusiasm and creativity, grateful to our teachers for nurturing their talents, and thankful to our families and guests for being part of this wonderful occasion.

This year’s Harmony Day theme, Everyone Belongs, is beautifully reflected in our school’s rich diversity and the many celebrations of cultures that connect us.

While our community consistently embodies inclusiveness, respect, and a strong sense of belonging, this special fortnight of harmony events provided an opportunity to express our commitment even more visibly - through our hearts, our hands, and a vibrant sea of orange.

We also honour Maria Montessori’s educational philosophy as a movement for peace. A passionate advocate for children, Maria Montessori believed that the hope for a more peaceful world lies within the nurturing and potential of every child.

“The unknown energy that can help humanity is that which lies hidden in the child.” - Maria Montessori

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Communitas team and all the volunteers who worked so hard to make this event such a success. We are also so grateful to everyone who baked delicious goodies and donated their much-loved books.

Every purchase is helping our community continue to grow - we truly appreciate your support.

Happy reading, everyone!

A Montessori education nurtures autonomous, experiential, collaborative, and joyful learning.

During a Friday afternoon walk through our classrooms, this was beautifully evident - children were deeply engaged in meaningful projects, working purposefully with hands-on materials, collaborating with peers, and creating across a variety of mediums.

Even at the end of the week, our classrooms were alive with focus, independence, and joy.

Our Children’s House classrooms are places of beauty and wonder.

In the 3–6 prepared environment, children are free to explore, choose meaningful work, and grow as confident members of a caring community. Thoughtfully designed spaces and purposeful materials invite independence, creativity, and deep concentration.

Within this environment, children build practical life skills, strong academic foundations, and most importantly, a genuine love of learning.

This small snapshot of today’s morning work cycle captures the essence of that experience - a community of young learners engaged, focused, and joyfully discovering the world around them.

Despite today’s grey skies, the children’s artwork has been bursting with vibrance and light!

We are delighted to share a sneak peek of our Artists in Residence as they channel their creative energy into producing stunning pieces inspired by their surroundings, the wider world, and their favourite artists.

Since the start of term, the children have embraced both individual and collaborative projects with imagination, curiosity, and enthusiasm. They have explored ideas thoughtfully and creatively, developing artworks that reflect both their personal expression and shared experiences.

Their collective and individual masterpieces will be proudly showcased at the end of the term.

In our Upper Primary environment, focus is intentional. You will see students deeply engaged in research, collaborating with purpose, and working independently for extended periods of time. This level of concentration doesn’t happen by accident - it grows from choice, responsibility, and meaningful work.

In Montessori classrooms, students learn to manage their time, set goals, and follow their curiosity. The result is a calm, productive space where learners are confident, motivated, and fully immersed in their work.

At ISMS, focus isn’t forced - it’s fostered, and was exemplified beautifully by our Grevillea students this morning.
