As we a now almost a week away until Christmas, our Wren Citizens have participated in different experiences, relating to the fun, festive occasion.

They have demonstrated creativity while working on their Christmas gifts to take home. This has involved painting jars, bauble bauble shapes, paper bags and cards for their families. Our friends have learnt about Christmas and how it's a special time for giving. The gift making experiences have then followed with other Christmas activities. They have worked together to make group Christmas trees using collage materials and paints.

The children have then used their cardboard Christmas trees in their play, while placing real bauble baubles inside the holes to decorate the trees. The children enjoyed helping each other to decorate them and our Educator would talk about the different coloured bauble baubles.

Our friends have also decorated pine cones with pom poms, and have imagined that they are Christmas trees. The children have also challenged themselves at working with the Christmas foam stickers. This have involved them to peel and remove the backing so that they can stick the sticker onto paper.

During these experiences, the children have used their fine motor and creative skills to work with the resources. They have also learnt more about their world while discovering more about the Christmas celebration.

Today to help celebrate World Cookie Day 🍪 the children in the Swan room were given the opportunity to decorate their very own cookie!

The children were all given one Marie biscuit to decorate; They started by adding some icing mix (pink or green) to their cookie and then topped it off with their choice of white chocolate buds, sprinkles and mini marshmallows. The children were given the opportunity to eat them after lunch or take them home.

This experience taught the children independence, sharing and hand-eye coordination.

As Summer approaches and we start spending more time in pools, dams, lakes, and beaches, it is important to remember the risks of children around water. Children from 0-4 are most at risk due to their curiosity and lack of understanding of the dangers.

To help assist you this Summer, we have put together a list of things you can do to avoid water incidents.
