Wild Heart Lifelong Learning

Please note, this is not a traditional tutoring service. We are aiming to re-ignite a passion for learning in young people who have disengaged from education, or who are trying to find their passion and find confidence in their own abilities and skills. Rather than have the main focus on achieving high scores for standardised tests, we are focussed on opening doors and windows to future opportunities that are tangible. The first goal is to build a rapport with the young person, and then we invite them to create their own project. From this we build real life skills, and figure out if there are gaps in their knowledge and skills preventing them from completing the project to their own highest standard. The learning is therefore for a purpose, not abstract. The ultimate goal is to build passion, confidence, and self-motivation for learning, not achieve a high score on a test, although, this is often a side-effect. Those who re-engage in education after finding their passion and confidence, can achieve higher than their peers over time.

This is from the book “Shop Class as Soulcraft” by Matthew B. Crawford. Young people are increasingly disengaged from learning. Hands-on skills are treated as inferior to academic skills, which are abstract. Wild Heart aims to make learning relevant to each individual.
