Last day of Year 12 2026!

Yesterday our Year 12 Leavers marked the end of their school journey with the traditional shirt signing, filling each other’s shirts with messages of congratulations and well wishes. The Leavers’ Concert followed, and the day closed with the much-loved tradition of planting the Leavers’ Tree, which will grow on our campus as a living reminder of the friendships made here and the lasting mark this cohort leaves on our community.

Today, the Year 12s continued to mark their journey with the Leavers’ Breakfast and the very special seed to tree Eucharist. Tonight, we celebrate their achievements at the Graduation Awards Ceremony. Stay tuned, as highlights from today’s events will be shared tomorrow.

We hope you each enjoy and savour these special moments. Congratulations, Year 12!

Congratulations to our 2027 School Captains! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Eshaan, Maggie, Leni and Monte, who will lead our student community as School Captains, pictured (L-R) with our new Head of Senior School, Mr Luscombe.

We’re proud of the character, care and commitment each of them has shown, and we can’t wait to see the impact they make.

Well done to all students who put themselves forward for leadership roles. It takes courage to step up, and we thank you for your contribution to our school community.

As we welcome our 2027 leaders, we prepare for a big week of celebrations farewelling our wonderful 2026 Year 12 cohort. Stay tuned for photos and videos of these special moments throughout the week!

Walking together for epilepsy 💜

Yesterday at lunchtime, our students and staff took to Tunbridge Oval for the Walk for Epilepsy, walking together in Houses to support the 1 in 25 Australians diagnosed with epilepsy.

Thank you to everyone who laced up and got involved. It’s a great example of our community coming together for a cause that matters.

Teddy Bear Picnic 2026

Today our Year 12 Leavers began their departure celebrations with the much-loved Teddy Bear Picnic tradition, spending time with our youngest students at the very start of their own journey with the School, a lovely reminder of how far our Year 12s have come.

We look forward to a week of celebrations ahead for our wonderful 2026 Peer Year.

Congratulations to our Sheep Show Team on a fantastic Melbourne Royal Show over the school holidays! Students from Year 7 to Year 11 represented Ballarat Grammar, and the results speak for themselves.

- Champion School for the Sheep Competition, based on our junior sheep judging and parading results.

- Best Maintained School Team, recognising our students' presentation, politeness, interaction with the public and willingness to help other exhibitors.

- Best Corriedale Fleece, won by our skirted ram's fleece. We also took out the ewe's fleece.

- First place in class for one of our Corriedale rams, against some very strong and experienced studs.

- Jack (Year 9) won the Intermediate Short Wool/Meat Sheep Judging.

- Angus (Year 8) placed third in Junior Long Wool Sheep Judging, and Andrea (Year 10) placed third in the senior division.

What we're proudest of is the feedback. Organisers, exhibitors and the wider community told us how knowledgeable, capable and helpful our students were. There was almost no moment when a Ballarat Grammar student wasn't holding a sheep in a class, helping others and learning along the way.

Well done to everyone involved!

2026 Blessing of the Pets

Today we welcomed six clergy to bless our pets from Junior School families. Thunderstorms overnight and a chilly morning meant coats were in high demand, fur and non-fur alike, though the pets had a distinct advantage! Undeterred, students arrived with drawings, photos and even photocopies of photos, an absolute Noah’s Ark of budgies, horses, calves, cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens, one-eyed guinea pigs and worms in soil, to name a few!

A big thank you to Bishop Mark Burton, the Venerable Michael O’Brien (Archdeacon, School Board Member and Parish Priest of St Peter’s, Sturt Street), the Venerable Catie Inches-Ogden (Parish Priest of Springmount Parish), Rev. Christine Croft (OG1988, Chaplain of Firbank Anglican Grammar), Fr Chris Keast (Bishop’s Chaplain and Parish Priest of St John’s, Soldiers Hill), and our own Chaplain, Fr Keith Romanis, at his first Blessing of the Pets!.

Today eleven of our students, Lexi, Brylee, Milla, Tori, Erin, Felicity, Kenzie, Steph, Millie, Stella and Ethan, took part in the World's Greatest Shave, donating their hair to be made into wigs for people living with blood cancer. Between their fundraising page and donations on the day, they have raised $1886 so far - what an incredible effort!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Centennial foyer at lunchtime to cheer them on, it was a wonderful show of support from all.

Congratulations to our senior netballers who have made Ballarat Grammar history, winning all four Senior BAS Grand Finals in Term 3.

With 11 senior teams competing across four divisions, netball at Ballarat Grammar continues to go from strength to strength. The 1sts fought back from a slow start to draw level with Mercy College at three quarter time, before finishing strong to win by 3 goals. The 2nds were too strong for BCC, winning by 20 goals, while the 3rds saw an all-Grammar affair between BG Blue and BG White. The 4ths rounded out the clean sweep with a win over DC.

Well done to all students and coaches involved, and particular thanks to our netball co-ordinators, Katie Keighrey and Cindy Daniel, for their leadership across the program.

Congratulations also to Katie, who has been selected for the 2026 ASPIRE Coach Program, supported by the Australian Institute of Sport and the Victorian Institute of Sport. ASPIRE supports female coaches to build the skills and networks needed to step into high-performance coaching, and Katie will join a cohort of up to 30 coaches from Victoria and Tasmania for three days at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park, from 2 to 4 October.

Last week our Year 9 Sport Education class welcomed 50 students from Years 3 to 5 at Yuille Park Community College for a morning of games, activities and physical challenges.

Our students took on the role of leaders and coaches for the day, with real care, making sure every younger student felt included and had a go. Watching them communicate, problem-solve and encourage their groups was a great reminder of how much responsibility (and fun) comes with the Sport Ed. course.

By the end of the morning there were plenty of laughs, a few new friendships, and a good example of what sport can do when it brings communities together.
