Lively Learners Educator Emily is passionate about protecting the natural environment and shares that passion with the kindergarten children by supporting their exploration of concepts about the natural world and how to protect it and embedding sustainable practices into the daily curriculum and learning environment such as using recycled materials in learning experiences.

"In the lead up to Clean Up Australia Day, our lively learners have been focusing on their natural environment, exploring ways in which they can care for the environment on the land as well as looking at ways in which they can become more environmentally responsible for our oceans and the animals that inhabit it.

Today, using sea creature figurines and soft plastics, the children engaged in a learning experience to investigate the impact of plastic pollution on the ocean and marine animals. This experience provoked thoughtful discussions and ideas, as the children engaged collaboratively with Em and one another, demonstrating respect and understanding of ways in which we can help to keep the environment clean and living creatures safe. This hands on, practical, social experience, allowed the children to co construct their knowledge with Em and one another, as they shared their individual thoughts on the impact humans might be having on the environment, and ways in which we can help protect the environment. The children agreed that polluting water would 'hurt the animals', and that we need to 'put our rubbish in the bin'."

We will be celebrating International Women's Day from 4th - 8th of March. We invite children, families and educators to wear the colour purple to raise awareness and show support.

To inspire inclusion means to celebrate diversity and empowerment on International Women's Day 2024 and beyond.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Each year, this day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done.

In 2024, the campaign theme Inspire Inclusion emphasizes the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society.

This year's campaign theme underscores the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality. It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected. Inspire Inclusion encourages everyone to recognise the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life, including those from marginalised communities.

Today the Lively Learners dining area was transformed into a Pizzeria! Whilst some of the children were able to demonstrate their expertise in making pizzas others were supported by our chef, Alex, to add sauce and toppings to english muffin bases. He then cooked them in the kitchen and returned them in time for lunch! Buonissimo!

We are so grateful to Ada for her generosity in sharing her culture with us to celebrate Lunar New Year, Year of the Dragon. We learnt about the colours, vocabulary, stories and customs of Lunar New Year and were able to participate in Dragon Line Dancing, making lanterns and lucky mandarins. Happy Lunar New Year!

I've had the privilege to see Anne from Branch Into Music in action many times. Children LOVE her music lessons which are filled with joy and learning. I highly recommend looking into attending her online or in person classes.
