What an incredible day for our Leadership Team at the Semann & Slattery Inspire X Conference!

Yesterday gave us the opportunity to step away from the everyday, challenge our thinking, reflect on our practice and consider the possibilities for the future of early childhood education.

We explored new ideas, gained fresh perspectives, connected with others in our sector and were reminded of the importance of truly listening to and understanding children — their ideas, their voices and the way they see the world.

We left the conference feeling inspired, motivated and full of ideas to bring back to Sturt Street Early Learning. We have plenty to reflect on, share with our team and, most importantly, put into action!

A huge thank you to Anthony, Colin and the wonderful Semann & Slattery team for creating another meaningful and inspiring day of learning and connection.

What an exciting week we’ve had as our little scientists got curious, asked questions, made predictions and got stuck into some hands-on science experiments!
Throughout the week, the children explored mixing liquids and oils, created their very own erupting emotion monsters, experimented with what sinks and what swims, discovered the fascinating world of air and movement, and even had fun with exploding lemons! We explored, observed, tested, laughed and learnt together — with plenty of surprises along the way!
Science Week has been a wonderful opportunity for our children to explore the world around them, develop their curiosity and understand that sometimes the best way to learn is to have a go and see what happens!
We are so proud of our little scientists and their enthusiasm for discovering, experimenting and learning through play!

Today we had a very special visit today from Nicki from Cool Kids First Aid, who spent some time with our Kinder and Junior Kinder children learning some very important first aid and safety skills!
The children had the opportunity to learn:
- How to call 000 and what information to give
- How to use bandages and dressings
- What to do if someone is hurt
- How to place someone into the recovery position if needed
- And some other really important first aid and emergency response skills!
We loved seeing the children so engaged, asking questions and having a go. Teaching children these skills from an early age helps build their confidence and understanding of what to do in an emergency.
A huge thank you to Nicki from Cool Kids First Aid for coming along and making first aid fun, practical and age-appropriate for our children!

We are thrilled to have her smiling face back in our centre and know she will make a positive impact on our learning community once again.

Today our whole centre proudly took part in National Simultaneous Storytime!

Together, our children and educators enjoyed reading Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson, Adrian Lloyd and Jake A. Minton. The children were captivated by Luna Roo’s story, with lots of excitement and imaginative discussion throughout the day.

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual event held across Australia where children at schools, libraries, childcare centres and homes all read the same book at the same time. It celebrates the importance of reading, literacy, storytelling and connection, while encouraging a lifelong love of books in children.

We loved coming together as a centre community to share in such a special experience and celebrate the joy of reading together.

On Thursday, we celebrated Outdoor Classroom Day!

The children spent the day exploring, creating, learning, and connecting with nature through outdoor play and experiences. From imaginative adventures and messy play to group games and quiet moments in the fresh air, every experience encouraged curiosity, confidence, creativity, and teamwork.

We loved seeing the children embrace nature, take risks, make discoveries, and create wonderful memories together throughout the day!

At Sturt Street Early Learning, our children have been having so much fun exploring finger painting! From swirling colours to creating unique masterpieces, finger painting is a wonderful sensory experience that encourages creativity, imagination, and self-expression.

Not only is it fun, but finger painting also helps children develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and confidence as they explore different textures and colours through play.

We love seeing our little artists proudly showing off their colourful creations and enjoying the freedom to learn through hands-on experiences.
