The fundamental difference that puts Jik Cheung Kung Fu ahead of the rest.

One movement vs two and why it matters.

There’s a big difference between
deflecting then countering and deflecting while countering.

When you defend first and attack second, you’re always a moment behind. Even if it’s fast, there’s a pause — and that pause gives your opponent time to recover, reset, or fire again.

When defence and offence happen in the same movement, you’re countering on their timing, not yours. The attack is neutralised because you’re already striking, it could be a finger in the eye or enough to make them react.. ither way there’s no gap, no hesitation, no reset.

By entering on their timing, you also bypass the flinch response. The nervous system doesn’t get the moment it needs to brace, freeze, or retract when the counter arrives before that reflex can fully switch on.

This is a key point of difference in many Chinese martial arts, including Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Defence and offence are trained as one action, not two when using structure, timing, and sensitivity rather than speed alone.

This isn’t about speed or flashy hands.
It’s about timing, structure, and pressure.

At close range especially, you don’t get two chances.
One movement keeps you in control.
Two movements puts you back in response mode.

Curious about martial arts but not sure where to start?

Classes are kept small, allowing for personal attention and clear instruction. Training focuses on building strong foundations through correct stance, movement, coordination, and structure.

You’ll learn specialized close‑quarters training that develops reflexes, awareness, and the ability to respond naturally in tight, real‑life situations.

This style complements any striking style of fighting, enhancing timing, structure, and control at close range.

Along the way, you’ll build strength, balance, and calm under pressure. No ego, no rush—just honest training, steady progress, and a supportive environment for beginners.

Beginners;

If you’ve ever been interested in learning a martial art, it's the Year of the Horse 🐎 now is the time.

Jik Cheung Kung Fu may look complex from the outside, but it is built on clear, solid foundations. Training focuses on posture, balance, coordination, and simple movements perfected with repetition that prepares both the body and mind to respond naturally under pressure.

Jik Cheung Kung Fu focuses on understanding all lines of attack through the study and refinement of the Ten hand movements. These movements form the framework for how the system defends, controls, and counters at close range.

Many of the hand movements emphasise deflection, interception, and counter-attack, with integrated grappling components.
This is not ground fighting, but close-range control—using structure, alignment, and leverage to manage contact and dominate the line. Striking is taught with full-body connection, ensuring power is delivered without disconnecting the frame or introducing unnecessary torque. The goal is efficient force transfer, balance retention, and continuous control throughout the exchange.

The Year of the Horse represents momentum, discipline, and forward movement. If you’ve been thinking about training, now is the time—step onto the floor, commit to the foundations, and begin your journey in Jik Cheung Kung Fu.
