Many dental practices have existing patients with unaddressed concerns about their tooth colour, and most of those patients will never raise it themselves.

The assumption by many dental providers I talk to is that if a patient wanted whiter teeth, they would ask. But they generally don't. Not because the concern isn't there, but because they perhaps feel embarrassed to raise it, and so the conversation never happens.
