POV: Finally giving you a look-in at my second, adjoining room at the Stew-dio 🔍🎶

Perfect for discreetly waiting before, during, or after a lesson if the nominated Uber driver for the day — Mum, Dad, or supervising guardian, is running a little late (AKA operating in a time signature of their own 😉) ⏰⌛️.

I’m also a firm believer that every artsy space needs some form of velvet upholstery ~ a variance in texture, if you will ✨🤌.

I wish I could take credit for the epic wall-installation collage, but this hero piece was already here waiting for me! 🖼️.

The same goes for the graffiti tagging of “bacon” and “drum”, two words I’ve heard for most of my life. Drums is a given, but in a moment of full public disclosure (fun fact time!💥), I’m also vegan, so the bacon taunts have followed me far and wide 😅🥴😂.

Funny how life works out eh ⚖️

Students are always encouraged to bring their own sticks, but as you can see, I’ve got stacks on hand, should two, finely-lumbered blocks of wood, fail to travel into a lesson with them 🪵.

Either way, this display is here to stay and really *sticks* out, some could say 😏.

All parents and guardians are always welcome to sit in on any lessons and break the 4th wall 🎬🫧

Whether it’s ‘playing’ an active role in your child’s learning 🎶, offering quiet reassurance and encouragement, satisfying curiosity, or simply making things easier logistically, all are equally welcome.

On a different note 🎵, if you’d prefer a few peaceful moments in the car, a quick dash for errands (the neighbouring trio of Aldi, Bunnings and Officeworks 🫡), or to improvise week-to-week, all is well and dandy too 🌾.

Whatever your pace, drop-off and pick-up arrangements can easily be accommodated and my cozy front-entrance nook, with its two adjoining ottoman benches and soft attempt at a ’70s conversation pit, welcomes you if you hear its call 🔊

An overdue, reintroduction 🙋‍♀️ ~

Hey, I’m Jess — your teacher (and biggest cheerleader!) here at Groove Intuition.
I teach drums and keyboard (or both, if you’re up for the full instrumental experience! 🎹🥁🎶).

I’ve been playing, loving, and living drums for 20 years, with 12 of those spent teaching as a drum kit tutor. While drums are my main passion, my music journey actually began with piano / keyboard, ticklin’ the ivories as they say! 🎹 It didn’t quite *stick* until later on, once I felt more equipped with the ‘sticks, so to say 😏🥁.

Music has always 🎶played🎵 a pivotal role in my life. My goal at Groove Intuition is to bring together all the experiences I’ve been lucky to have and shape that into lessons that are:

🎵 fun
🎶 supportive
🎵 and inspiring

But, more than anything, I want anyone who steps into these four walls of curated 〰️grooviness〰️ to feel the joy and love of music, a timeless and universal language 🫡🌏❤️‍🔥.

Further to the cause, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible music teachers who inspired, guided, and believed in me. My hope is to carry that same torch forward and share the same spark my teachers gave me, potentially unlocking a lifelong love of music in others 🔐🎶.

Life happens off-screen (as you know!), and while I’ve been a little quiet online, I’ve been fully present where it counts: in lessons and showing up fully offline (teaching has my heart! ❤️‍🔥).

But, I’m back here behind the wheel of Groove Intuition — reclaiming this space with heart, humour, and a renewed sense of rhythm. I’ve been ever-so-quietly gatekeeping my curated space of joy and grooviness, but it’s time to share more on what makes this space feel alive, starting with:

I spent a bit of time putting to words exactly the modus operandi that factors in when striving to bring the most value I can to lessons 💭✍🏻⚜️🎶.

It came down to these core aspects, which I believe, take care of the lesson experience, nurtures self-expression through music and acknowledges the transferable & incidental skills gained along the way 👣.

I’m an advocate for making tuition and learning an instrument (drums & piano 🙋🏼‍♀️) feel accessible for anyone both curious & brave enough to try (beware of the, ‘sorry it’s not a phase Mum’ response that can typically follow 😆). These three pillars reinforce the nuts and bolts behind this commitment to providing high quality tuition, inspiring authentic self-expression and cultivating skills that stay with a student far beyond their time learning at Groove inTuition 🥰🎯🌟.
