Oh, we all want that ride-or-die partner, don't we? 🔥
Every man and woman I talk to about their deepest desires for a relationship wants that kind of connection.
Someone who knows them inside out, who has their back, who they can be completely themselves with.
It's a deeply human need to feel loved, understood, accepted and safe with another person.
Yet we communicate jack s**t about what we actually need, get pi**ed off when our partner doesn't figure it out, hold onto resentment, keep score and play ridiculous power games.
We expect our partners to read our minds, remember who we were ten years ago and somehow keep meeting needs we haven't even learned to articulate ourselves.
Then one day we look across the bed and wonder who the hell we chose, how we ended up here and why we feel so lonely, sad and unfulfilled lying next to someone we've shared half our lives with and created new humans with...
I find it fascinating how much effort we put into finding the right person, yet how easily we can stop getting to know them once we've found them.
People change. Their needs change. Their desires, priorities, fears and ambitions change.
The person you're in a relationship with is still becoming someone. So are you.
And if you both want that ride-or-die relationship, you've got to remain interested in who you're each becoming.
I'm curious...
When was the last time you had a conversation with your partner that had absolutely nothing to do with the kids, work, money or what needed doing around the house, and actually learned something new about them?
