This week, we celebrated National Science Week with plenty of curiosity, discovery and hands-on learning! One of our highlights was exploring the fascinating world of insects and other little creatures that live around us. The children became little scientists as they used magnifying glasses and tongs to dig through the soil and scavenge for pretend worms. 🔍

Through this playful investigation, children practised observing closely, asking questions and sharing their exciting discoveries with friends. What a wonderful way to encourage curiosity and a love of exploring the natural world! 🌿✨

This week at BEL, we celebrated International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Children explored Aboriginal symbols and their meanings, created their own designs on natural rocks, and experienced traditional-inspired body painting as part of their learning. 🤎

Through these experiences, children were encouraged to explore, ask questions and develop an appreciation for the rich cultures, stories and traditions of Aboriginal and Indigenous peoples. It was a beautiful week of creativity, connection and learning together. ✨

Our Joeys enjoyed another wonderfully messy sensory experience, exploring different colours, textures and materials with their hands. There was lots of curiosity as the children squished, stretched, mixed and felt the different textures, watching the colours swirl together as they played. 💕 These simple sensory moments encourage children to explore at their own pace while supporting their fine motor skills, creativity and confidence through hands-on discovery.

A beautiful time of messy little hands, curious minds and joyful learning! ✨

Our Joeys group had a wonderful time exploring ice painting as they experimented with colour mixing. Using brushes and colourful ice, they discovered that red and yellow make orange, watching the colours blend as the ice slowly melted. 🎨🧊 🧡

This fun, hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, creativity, sensory exploration, and early science learning while strengthening fine motor skills through play.

🛒 A trip to the shops💚

This week, our children enjoyed stepping into the role of shoppers as they explored our pretend shop with their shopping bags and play money. As part of our ongoing learning about the community, this fun role-play helped children build confidence, practise communication, develop early numeracy skills, and understand the important places and people that make our community special.

Learning through play is always an adventure! 🌟

This week at BEL, we were so fortunate to welcome one of our wonderful parents, who is a neurologist, to share a little about her important role in our community.

Our children loved exploring real medical tools, listening to a heartbeat through a stethoscope, and asking lots of thoughtful questions. Experiences like these help children build an understanding of the people who make up our community while inspiring curiosity, confidence, and empathy.

A big thank you to our amazing parent for taking the time to share her knowledge and make learning so interactive and meaningful. We love working together with our families to create rich learning experiences that connect children with the world around them. 💛

Our little firefighters were on duty this week! 🚒❤️

As part of our Community Helpers learning, the children had an exciting time stepping into the role of firefighters. Dressed in their firefighting gear, they worked together to "put out" a pretend fire made from colourful shaving cream using real hoses. 🚒

Through imaginative play, the children explored the important role firefighters have in keeping our community safe while developing teamwork, communication, confidence, and problem-solving skills. There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and proud moments as they came together to save the day!

Learning is always at its best when children can play, imagine, and discover together. ❤️

Our children gathered together for a cozy book reading session, where imaginations came to life, curiosity blossomed, and meaningful conversations were shared. Moments like these help foster a love for reading while building language, listening, and social skills in a warm and nurturing environment. 📚✨
