Today we congratulate Leanne on 4 years with Hearts and Minds!
Leanne has been incredible from the beginning, starting her journey in the rooms with the children and then later moving into the Kitchen with Airis as the culinary dream team, Leanne is an asset to the service where ever she goes!
Always a smiling face greeting the children as they come through the dining room in the mornings, we are so lucky to have Leanne with us, and look forward to many years to come! 🩷

🦋 They have emerged! 🦋
The children have been watching with bated breath all day as our Monarch butterflies have emerged from their chrysalises one by one! They have now had some time to let their wings dry out, and they are starting to flap them about ready for takeoff!
The next step in caring for these gorgeous creatures is feeding! The children watched on as Miss Emer and Miss Kellyann fed the butterflies on some cordial-soaked sponges, which the butterflies seemed to LOVE!
This sparked conversations amongst the children about the proboscis (a.k.a the "tongue") they were using to suck up all the cordial!
This has been an incredible journey for the children (and educators!) to witness, we have loved every minute of it!
Hopefully this afternoon they will be all ready to be released, and the children will have the opportunity to witness the final stage.

Please register to attend: https://baldivis-foster-care-info-session.eventbrite.com.au

Thinking about becoming a foster carer but not sure where to start? You are not alone. These are the top five questions people ask us at our info sessions.

1. Can I foster if I am single or do I need to be married?
2. Can I foster if I rent my home?
3. What support do I get?
4. Do I get to choose the type of care I provide?
5. What does the process look like from start to finish?

If you’ve wondered about any of these, or have your own questions, our next session is the perfect place to begin.

🐛⚠️Caterpillar update!⚠️🐛
Over the long weekend, we witnessed an incredible transformation in our caterpillars. As we entered the room, excitement filled the air , our caterpillars had begun forming their chrysalises!

We noticed how big and plump they had become after eating so many leaves, clearly preparing themselves for the next stage of their life cycle. The children excitedly squealed, “Oh no, they’re hanging upside down!” as we observed one caterpillar nicely forming its chrysalis.

Our children compared what they saw to pictures of the butterfly life cycle and confidently exclaimed, “It’s going to turn into a butterfly soon!”

While we were discussing this process, the magical moment happened right before our eyes. We observed the chrysalis stage, watching the caterpillar carefully attach itself and shed its outer layer to reveal the chrysalis beneath. The children stood quietly, fascinated as it formed its protective casing and began its transformation, witnessing this remarkable stage of metamorphosis. We felt so lucky to experience such an extraordinary moment together.

Watching this stage in real time gave the children a wonderful opportunity to visualise the life cycle of a butterfly.

Through this hands-on experience, they strengthened their early scientific thinking and observation skills while deepening their curiosity and love for nature. - Miss Sowmya
