KINDY EXCURSION TO IGA
This morning, the Kindy class gathered together on the mat ready for an exciting community excursion. Before leaving, they discussed the importance of stranger danger and road safety, talking about how to stay safe, listen to educators, and look after our buddies while out in the community.
The children paired up with their buddies, lined up, and walked together to our local IGA, just over the road.
Along the way, they practiced road safety skills by stopping, looking, listening, and crossing safely with educator support.
Once the class arrived at IGA, the children enjoyed a hands-on experience using a scanner to scan some items, they were introduced to some of the management of the IGA who gave them some lollies to take home with them!
The Kindy children were treated to a special behind-the-scenes tour of the office, giving them an insight into how the supermarket operates. The children asked questions, observed their surroundings, and showed curiosity about the different roles people have within the store.
Their mission was to collect newspapers for the worm farm they are creating, and they were more than successful! The children were excited to contribute to caring for our environment by gathering materials that will help maintain our worm farm.
This excursion provided meaningful opportunities for children to build confidence, develop independence, strengthen their understanding of community roles, and apply important safety skills in a real-world setting.
Well done Kindy team and educators, what a fantastic morning outing!
