A beautiful poignant project documenting the threatened and endangered species of Australia. Finally the exhibition is going ahead - go and check it out!.

From Day of the Species website:
"...... EVERY SINGLE ONE of our 1,805 national threatened species, listed in the federal government’s laws for Nature, known as the EPBC Act, has been hand-crafted onto pieces of upcycled cardboard packaging. Over 200 art and nature lovers from across the country and a couple from the UK (Aussie expats) have rendered nature’s most vulnerable into tiny 2D existence (3 x 7cm ) using textas, paints, coloured pencils and even collage."
The numbers have probably increased since then. Thanks Carmel Killen for creating this project and inspiring/informing so many people. We love your work!
It was an honour and a sad joy to create some of these images - one of my most treasured covid lockdown activities.

Happy southern hemisphere beings!
It doesn't feel particularly summerish here in Melbourne though the long days are joyous.
You might notice that the midday sun is at its highest altitude (~75degrees above the horizon) and that it rises around 30degrees south of east and sets around 30degrees south of west.
That's the extremes - enjoy the swing back the other way.

Life's adaptations to the cold and dark part of the year demonstrate how time and patience, in the end, teach us how to survive.
