TAFE Gippsland brings together the a long and strong history of TAFE in Gippsland ....East Gippsland Community College, East Gippsland Institute of TAFE, Advanced TAFE, GippsTAFE and Federation Training.

TAFE Gippsland is an opportunity to learn from the positive and negative of the past and go forward into the future as one organisation letting go of old baggage.

Most importantly TAFE gives regional education opportunities that is relevant to our region, local and affordable.

More ongoing employment opportunities and career pathways internally adds to our local communities economically .

It’s great to see TAFE as the overiding brand.

TAFE is great for all of Gippsland - South, West, Central and East .

A new chapter for TAFE in Gippsland.

As of today, Federation Training will be known as TAFE Gippsland. It’s an exciting new chapter for us, for the students and teachers at TAFE, and for the community as a whole.

The age of social media, public and private time is blurred. There has been some media lately around ‘When do an employee’s private actions cross the line?’ Article in the Sydney Morning Herald. (http://www.smh.com.au/business/workplace-relations/when-do-an-employees-private-actions-cross-the-line-20170404-gvddqs)

A questionable tweet, post or comment while sitting on your couch at night can cost your job or at the very least land you in disciplinary action with your employer.

Be warned, it does not even have to be about your employer to raise an alarm with them.

Prospective employers are also ‘Facebook stalking’ job candidates. What does your online presence say about you?

My advice, keep the ‘social’ side of social media as such. Fill your wall with positive energy, sharing happy times, moments we are proud of and things we look forward too.

A negative mind will never give you a positive life. (but it will annoy enough people to make it worth it!) lol 😀🤣😂

Invest in protecting your employment conditions. You insure your home, cars even your life, but many of us don't think it's important enough to protect our job. Join the NTEU to access a support and advice network and give you and the NTEU a stronger voice.

You don't try to insure your house once it's burnt down, don't do the same for your job.

Momentum is building at Federation Trainings NTEU Branch, with NINE new members in 2 months. Not a member yet? Why not?

I think of my union membership as ‘insurance’ for my employment T&C’s.

We insure our cars, our homes and their contents without a second thought. But many of us put little importance our employment T&C’s.

Did you know if you are a full time administration officer working 38 hours a week, paid as a PACCT Level 2.4 and working just ½ overtime every day, you’re donating approximately 130 unpaid hours to your employer every year, or 9 weekends a year. Each week this is costing you around $59, or $3092 a year.

Make sure you go home on time, don’t be a statistic contributing to Australian donating billions of unpaid overtime.
