Healesville Spinners & Weavers Group

Healesville Spinners & Weavers Group We are a group who come together once a month to share knowledge of how to spin, weave, dye and othe

The aim and object of this group is to learn together in a spirit of friendship each member sharing their skills in a non-competitive form. We are not a teaching group in that we hold formal classes - we help one another to learn - we do not keep craft secrets to ourselves. New members must circulate and ask, they will be made welcome and helped, but they must also give of themselves to the group. The group meets on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 4 pm at he Badger Creek Hall, Badger creek , Victoria 3777.

Our next meeting is this coming Saturday 5th September 2022 & the Badger Creek Hall will be open from 10.15am.

This meeting is quite a special one as is will be the 600th meeting of our group. πŸ₯³ πŸŽ‚

Following the meeting we will be sharing lunch together to celebrate this milestone occasion & we ask Members to bring a plate for the table (either sweet or savoury).

Don't forget to bring along a project to work on during the meeting, your Show & Tell items which should include lots of wattle dyeing samples from our last meeting. πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

Our next meeting is on this coming Saturday 1st August 2026. The Badger Creek Hall will be open from 10.15am.

This month the Librarians will have our Library books on display & we will also set up some jar dyeing with wattle blossoms.

For the jar dyeing you will need to bring:
* a container such as a large Yoghurt container with a lid or a screw top jar (a 250g coffee jar is good).
* clean fibre either pure wool fleece or skeins ( appx 15g of fibre per container is enough as we're only making samples).
* wattle blossoms for your container (a good excuse to venture out & pick some of the beautiful blooms that are out at the moment).

Other things required will be provided.
The group also has some Alum to share. If you want to take some home bring a small zip-lock bag.

Make sure you bring along your felt from last month's workshop with Marlene, it will be great to see all the variations achieved. Also bring a current project to work on during the meeting, your lunch and Show & Tell items.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

During our meeting last Saturday we began discussing how to celebrate our upcoming 600th meeting which will be our September 2026 meeting.

It was suggested that members knit or crochet squares measuring 20cm x 20cm in acrylic yarn which would then be made into a blanket for donation. Acrylic yarn is ideal for ease of care after we pass the item on. Any colour is suitable and the squares will be collected over the next couple of months.

If you wish to donate squares please bring them along to the next few meetings. 🧢

The other idea was that the group cater for our September meeting lunch. Please let us know of any dietary requirements you may have if you are going to attend.
