THAT’S A WRAP ON THE 2026 BURDEKIN WATER FESTIVAL! 🎉

Congratulations to Aria Fiamingo, who proudly represented St Francis Catholic School as a 2026 Water Festival Ambassador.

Aria represented our school with confidence and enthusiasm throughout the festival, including a successful market stall, excellent public speaking at festival events and the Long Lunch, and a fantastic effort with her float in the Grand Parade.

Thank you to everyone who supported Aria throughout her journey.

👏💙Congratulations to the following students for their incredible reading effort during the 2026 Queensland Premier's Reading Challenge.
This chart shows the number of books read during this challenge period by the top readers.
📖✨This initiative ran from May 11 to August 28, 2026. Over these 109 days students were encouraged to read and log the books they were reading.
📘💙It is evident that the love of literature is very much alive! Well done!

🌟 Class in the Spotlight – 1/2B! 🌟

There is always lots happening in 1/2B! Here’s a little snapshot of what the students get up to during their busy days:

🧘 Meditation – taking time to slow down, reflect and prepare for the day ahead.

🧠 Learning Connections – starting each morning with activities that get brains and bodies ready for learning.

✏️ English – students recently completed their imaginative narrative writing for their English assessment, showing off their creativity and growing writing skills!

📚 InitiaLit – building spelling, reading and comprehension skills through lots of explicit teaching and practice.

🌏 Planet Protectors – helping to care for the environment by participating in an Emu Parade and emptying food scraps into the compost each day.

🙌 Handy Helpers – students take on important classroom responsibilities each week, including taking out lunch boxes, setting up for prayer and being line leaders.

Lots of learning, teamwork and responsibility happening in 1/2B! 💙✨

🪶 Emu Parade! 🐾🌿

Our students and staff enthusiastically took part in an Emu Parade to help keep our school grounds clean and tidy! 🧹✨

With plenty of energy and team spirit, students and staff enjoyed picking up litter and searching for lost items around the school grounds. 🌱🔎👏
