Burdekin School Burdekin School is a state special school focussed on ensuring educational access for students with intellectual impairments and multiple disabilities.

Burdekin School is a special education school catering to students from Prep to Year 12, requiring highly individualised curriculum and support services. The school also has an Early Childhood Developmental Program which provides early intervention services for children not yet of school age who require developmental support. Our staff specialise in providing learning environments for students wit

h a range of intellectual and multiple disabilities. Burdekin School caters to students with disabilities, from Gumlu, north of Bowen, to Giru, south of Townsville. Our school responds to the individual needs of students and specific impairment implications on student learning through the creation of individual curriculum plans and personalised learning goals. We also support the inclusion of students into mainstream schooling. Burdekin School is committed to scaffolding work, social, and life skills of students preparing to transition to post-school options, and actively seek opportunities for our students to participate in the workforce and local community.
