📚✨ BOOK WEEK 2026 – WHAT A WEEK! ✨

What a fantastic Book Week we’ve had at Lillie’s Cubby House! 💚📖

Our centre was filled with books, imagination, laughter and SO many amazing costumes! From 🐢 Ninja Turtles to 💛 Minions, 👨‍🌾 farmers, storybook characters and everything in between — we definitely had a little bit of everything including real life dalmatians..

And honestly… we think the educators may have enjoyed dressing up even MORE than the children! 😂

It has been so wonderful seeing the children excited about their favourite books and characters, sharing stories with their friends and getting involved in all the Book Week fun.

A huge thank you to all our families for getting involved, putting together the amazing costumes and helping us celebrate the magic of books. ❤️

And a very special thank you to our incredible educators for always being willing to join in, be silly and make memories with the children — although we’re not sure who had more fun this week! 😂📚

Books open little minds, big imaginations and endless possibilities. 🌈✨

📚🚜 BOOK WEEK – NO DRAMA CANE FARMER! 🚜📚

What an exciting Book Week experience for our children! 💚

As part of our “No Drama Cane Farmer” celebrations for book week, the children had the amazing opportunity to get up close and explore a real cane farmer’s tractor, brought along by Tracpower NQ PTY LTD 🌱🚜

The children were so excited to climb aboard, explore the tractor, learn more about the important role cane farmers play in our local community.

A huge THANK YOU to TracPower and Justin for bringing the tractor along and giving our children such a wonderful hands-on learning experience and helping bring our Book Week story to life! 💚

On Friday 24th of July we celebrated Pyjama Day, and what a wonderful day it was! 💤💛

The children and educators arrived in their cosy pyjamas, ready for a day filled with fun, learning, and laughter. We enjoyed stories, songs, imaginative play, and special activities while celebrating the comfort and joy of spending time together.

We loved seeing everyone's unique style and bright smiles!

🌿💦 Mud Play Adventures! 💦🌿

The children have spent so much time lately exploring our outdoor mud area, engaging in hands-on learning through play. Mud play provides endless opportunities for children to investigate, create, experiment and connect with nature.

As they mixed, poured, scooped and created, children were developing important skills including:
🤎 Problem-solving and critical thinking
🤎 Creativity and imagination
🤎 Fine and gross motor skills
🤎 Communication and teamwork
🤎 Sensory exploration and scientific discovery

Mud play encourages children to take manageable risks, explore different textures and build confidence in their abilities. It also provides opportunities for children to work together, share ideas and engage in meaningful conversations with their peers and educators.

At our service, we value nature-based learning experiences that support children's curiosity, wellbeing and connection to the world around them. Sometimes the best learning happens when children are free to get a little messy!

Our wonderful Year 6 cohort have been visiting Lillie's Cubby House as part of their cultural connect program. In the program they connect and collaborate on cultural learning experiences with the children. They have been sharing experiences such as storytelling, music, art and craft and cultural knowledge. The goal is to create respectful connections that help our children develop a sense of belonging, respect for culture, and an understanding of our local community. Our Year 6's absolutely love visiting Lillie's and sharing these special moments with the children. Thank you so much Lillie's for your invitation and hospitality!

What a fantastic day out with Antony Stewart and QLD Cricket! 🏏

The children had an amazing time developing their ball skills, building teamwork, and joining in lots of fun games and activities. There were smiles everywhere and so much enthusiasm throughout the session!

A big thank you to Antony, Taylor and QLD Cricket for such a fun and engaging experience for our children — we loved every minute! 😊
