Burdekin Education Program

Burdekin Education Program The school program is based on the concept of ‘common ground’ and ‘operation by principles’ (Respect, Honesty, Participation and Safe and Legal).

The Burdekin Education Engagement Program (BEEP) was established in 2019 and operates as a campus of Townsville Flexible Learning Centre, an initiative of Edmund Rice Education Australia. BEEP is a co-educational high school offering educational opportunities for young people in years 7-10 and who for a variety of reasons are outside the mainstream educational environment. Our goal is to provide a

ppropriate responses to the complex needs of young people in the Burdekin region who have disengaged from mainstream education. This is achieved by building honest and authentic relationships with young people and their families, supporting and celebrating the uniqueness and dignity of each individual. We strive to provide holistic learning experiences that address the social needs of our young people, and promote their emotional, cognitive, spiritual and academic development. The learning experiences aim to empower young people to take personal responsibility for their actions and learning, achieve greater autonomy and self-reliance and to engage in the transition to further education and/or employment.
