A big thank you to Hannah and Ashleigh, third-year Secondary Education students from ECU, who completed their teaching prac here at Mercy.

They loved their time at the College and surprised the girls at Admin with some beautiful flowers as a thank you.

We wish Hannah and Ashleigh all the very best with their studies and future teaching careers. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll see you back at Mercy, teaching the next generation.

💙 A bacon and egg roll, a chat with Dad and a little Mercy magic.

Thank you to all the dads and important father figures who joined us today for our Year 7 Father’s Day celebration.

Our Mercy Ambassadors led a beautiful liturgy, giving us a chance to reflect on the special role fathers and father figures play in the lives of our young people.

Principal Vince Bellini shared a little about his own dad and the Italian traditions he treasures, including the family’s annual sausage-making day.

The dads were also happy to stop for a quick snap in front of our Leschenault Estuary artwork, created by Elder Basil Hart.

It was lovely to see so many dads enjoying time with their kids, sharing a chat and a special morning together.

Alumnus Lewis Returns to Mercy to Inspire Students

It was wonderful to welcome back Lewis Italiano, Class of 2021, to Our Lady of Mercy College recently.

Since graduating, Lewis has built an impressive reputation as a cabinetmaker through his apprenticeship, establishing himself as one of the world’s standout young tradespeople. His achievements include winning Gold in Cabinetmaking at the 2023 WorldSkills Australia National Championships, followed by representing Australia at the international WorldSkills competition, where he earned a Medallion for Excellence.

In 2025, Lewis’ skill and commitment to his trade were recognised when he was named Western Australian Apprentice of the Year.

Speaking with our students, Lewis shared his journey from school into the trades, including his experiences as an apprentice, the opportunities he has taken on and some of the challenges along the way.

His story is a great reminder that there is no single pathway to success. For our students, exploring different career options, gaining workplace experience and finding a trade they are passionate about can lead to opportunities they may never have imagined.

Thank you, Lewis, for coming back and sharing your story with our students. It was fantastic to see how far one of our graduates has come and to hear where his skills and determination have taken him.

✨ College Feast Day | Friday 11 September ✨

On Friday 11 September, we will be celebrating our annual Feast Day.
Feast Day is a special opportunity for our students and staff to come together and celebrate our Catholicity and Mercy charism through faith, community, generosity and celebration.

A highlight of the day is the Mercy Markets, where funds raised support the charities we partner with, including Mercy Works, an initiative of the Sisters of Mercy.

Established in 2000, Mercy Works partners with vulnerable communities in Australia, Papua New Guinea and across the Asia-Pacific. Their programs help people build capacity, dignity and self-reliance.

Tokens for the Markets are available through CDF Pay or with cash sales in the Learning Commons during PCG.

Let us live out the Mercy value of Compassion by giving generously and making a real difference together.

Group 2 are now enjoying their own Outdoor Adventure Camp down south, making the most of the beautiful outdoors.

They have already had plenty of opportunities for teamwork, adventure, and a good dose of fun along the way.

🌿 Year 10 Outdoor Adventure Camp
Over the past week, half of our Year 10 cohort have been creating some great memories at their Outdoor Adventure Camp down south.
Students have spent the week hiking, kayaking, cooking together and sharing stories around the campfire. It has been a great opportunity to challenge themselves, enjoy the outdoors and build friendships along the way.

We look forward to hearing all about their adventures.
Best of luck to Group 2 as they prepare to head off on their own adventure next week. We hope you have an amazing time!

Your future starts with a choice.

Our Middle School students gathered this morning for our 2027 Subject Selection Assembly. Heads of Learning Areas introduced the core subjects, electives and pathways available to students.

With a wide range of electives on offer, students can explore areas such as Leadership and Performance, Marine Science, Ancient History, Forensic Science, Invasion Sport, Textiles, Drama, Dance, Languages, STEM and more.

As students move through Years 8, 9 and 10, they are given greater choice and independence in their learning. Electives allow students to explore their interests, develop new skills and discover their strengths.

Our Vision for Learning encourages students to be curious, engaged and confident learners. Subject selection is an important part of helping students discover their strengths and explore pathways for the future.

Families will receive the relevant Year Curriculum Handbook by email this week. Students will be supported throughout the selection process by their Heads of Year, Heads of Learning Areas and Deputy Principal.

Huge congratulations to all our students and staff on the outstanding performances of School of Rock! What an incredible production. 🎸

The performances on stage were amazing. The singing, acting and confidence shown by every student were exceptional.

A very big thank you to our incredibly dedicated staff who have worked behind the scenes and supported every part of the production. This show has taken an enormous commitment over many months, with countless afternoons, evenings and weekends spent away from family. Your professionalism, care, dedication and support of our students have been truly exceptional.

Thank you to our incredibly talented band for helping make every performance sound fantastic.

A special thank you to our former students Josh, Kai and Jack for the additional time, expertise and support they gave to the production. Your contribution made a real difference and helped make School of Rock the success it was. We couldn't have done it without you!

And finally, thank you to the incredible tech crew behind the scenes for helping bring the production together.
