At LCPS we aim to nurture students who are inspired to learn and strive for excellence, growing into confident young people who contribute positively to their communities.

This week’s Merit Award recipients demonstrated exactly that spirit through their talents in maths exploration, creative and skilled writing and determined efforts in learning new material. They were also recognised for positivity, compassion, perseverance, skilled listening, and a willingness to share—qualities that strengthen our school community.

Their achievements reflect the kind of learners and leaders we are proud to foster at LCPS.

Playing with light in Pre-kindy ✨
This term the Pre-Kindys have been investigating the properties of light with a series of experiences involving torches, reflection and shadow. It has been wonderful seeing them connect with others and resource their own learning as the children share ideas and observations and introduce new materials to explore! We can’t wait to see where our investigation takes us next! 💡

Yesterday, our Year 6 students were fortunate to welcome Hannah Taylor, Youth Engagement Officer from St Vincent de Paul Society WA, to LCPS.

Hannah shared insights into the important work St Vinnies does to support individuals and families experiencing hardship across Western Australia. Students were encouraged to reflect on how they can be advocates for those in need and make a positive difference in their community.

Following the presentation, the Year 6 students created heartfelt "Cards of Hope" containing messages of kindness, encouragement, and support. These cards will be included in care packs distributed by St Vinnies to individuals and families accessing their services.

We are proud of our Year 6 students for embracing this opportunity to show compassion, empathy, and a commitment to helping others. 💙

Ahlias Kindness Day

On Friday our school community will be participating in Ahlia's Kindness Day. Ahlia's Kindness Day was created in honor of Ahlia, a local kind, caring school girl who passed away in 2020 (further details- https://ahliaskindnessday.com/our-story/) Ahlia's Kindeness Day aims to encourage kindness, thoughtfulness and consideration for others, while simultaneously raising awareness and funds for RUN DIPG. RUN DIPG an Australian charity focused on improving outcomes for children diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive form of childhood brain cancer.

To celebrate this day- we will all wear free dress on Friday, with an optional gold coin donation that can be made at the stalls. Much appreciation to the Gibbons and Chester Families who are coordinating stalls to raise money for AKD. The stall will be open from 8:00am and will be open again at recess in the undercover area. Please see the attached flyers for examples of what the children can buy at the stalls.

Be kind everyone!

STEM in Pre-Kindy
In Pre-Kindy we have a big focus on fostering a love of learning and building those positive learning dispositions; curiosity, persistence, creativity, cooperation, confidence and so much more! Throughout the year we offer a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) learning invitations to spark the children’s interest ✨.

Whether it’s investigating Autumn leaves and the many variations of colour, texture and shape, or creating robots, monsters and more with pipe-cleaners and colanders, our wonderful Pre-kindy’s are hard at work!
