🌿 From Garden to Plate in Our School Kitchen 🌿

Each week, our students spend time in the garden nurturing, growing, and harvesting fresh produce. This week’s pick included leeks, cauliflower, spring onion, and thyme — all grown with wonderful care and enthusiasm! 🌱✨

Bringing the harvest into the kitchen gives students a hands-on opportunity to learn about healthy eating, seasonal produce, and the joy of creating meals from ingredients they’ve grown themselves.

Today, our freshly picked veggies were turned into a delicious dish featuring leek and cauliflower, topped with spring onion and a hint of thyme. 🥦🧅💚

We’re so proud of our students and the way they engage with both the garden and the kitchen.

From seed to plate, they are learning skills that will last a lifetime. 🌼🥗

🎶 More CWA Singing Snaps! 🎶

We’ve got some extra behind-the-scenes pics from our CWA Singing Day yesterday — and they’re too good not to share! 😄

Our students had a blast learning about the books, toys, and favourite things the CWA members enjoyed when they were kids! 📚🧸🎤

Check out the smiles and moments that made the day so special! 📸💛

At Auburn Primary, we deeply value the sense of community that makes our school such a special place. We are so fortunate to have a strong connection with the Auburn CWA, and today, we were thrilled to join them for a delightful Coffee and Chat in the Park.
Our students put on a beautiful performance, with each class singing a song, and the whole school finishing the session with a spirited song together. The fun didn't stop there – our CWA friends generously shared toys and stories from their own childhoods, giving our students a glimpse into the past.
The highlight of the day, of course, was the incredible smorgasbord of delicious treats prepared by the CWA members. 🍪🍰
A big thank you to:
Mrs. Gower, our former singing teacher, who helped our classes perfect their songs 🎤
Colleen from the CWA, who assisted in the planning and organising of this wonderful event 🙏
The school staff for their continuous support 👏
And the CWA members for sharing their treasured stories and baking those amazing treats! 🍪
We are so grateful for the continued friendship and support from our CWA family. It was a day full of music, memories, and, of course, delicious food! 🎶

🌺 Remembrance Day 2025 🌺

Today, our students joined the Auburn community for the Remembrance Day service at Memorial Park. We sincerely thank Peter Lane for his ongoing support and for facilitating our primary school’s involvement in this important event each year.

A special well done to our Year 6 students—Blake, Brooklyn, and Seth—who represented our school proudly by reading with fluency, confidence, and pride. The students were commended for their outstanding participation and excellent audience skills. Our Year 6 students also observed and inferred from other community members the correct protocol for laying wreaths, ensuring that the school’s wreath was placed with respect and in alignment with community traditions.

We truly value our local community and are proud to continue strengthening these important relationships.
Lest we forget.

🌳 Continuing Our National Tree Day Project 🌳
Building on our collaborative efforts for National Tree Day in Term 3, our students have been caring for our plantings with regular fortnightly watering. Yesterday, we returned to the site to help spread mulch in preparation for summer.

We were fortunate to have our Garden Facilitator, Jared, join us. He shared his wonderful knowledge with students about the creek’s habitat and the important role it plays in supporting plant growth. Jared also highlighted how insects are vital in breaking down organic matter, which helps fertilise our plants and enrich the soil.

Thank you to everyone involved for your ongoing commitment to caring for our environment!

On Friday, our Middle and Upper Primary students were lucky to participate in a workshop with Illustrator and Author Freda Chiu as part of the OzAsia Festival. Freda shared her workspace and creative process, and then guided the students to create some amazing quirky characters. Check out some of our creative work!

Big thanks to Adelaide Festival Centre's CentrEd and Department for Education, South Australia for supporting Arts Outreach for Regional Schools!

🥕 🍴 UP Class Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Showcase 🥕 🍴

Today was a truly special occasion at Auburn Primary School as our parent community were invited to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by our Upper Primary class. This event was a wonderful showcase of the recipes, skills and learning that takes place each week in our SAKG program.

Usually, students prepare a shared lunch to enjoy together, however this term our students were excited to extend an invitation to families and bring our community into their learning. Today, they proudly demonstrated the depth and range of their culinary and gardening skills, as well as the confidence and teamwork they have developed through the program.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported our students. Your presence made the day even more meaningful as we celebrated our global citizens in our school family setting.

We are incredibly proud of our UP class for their hard work, creativity, and community spirit and thank our dedicated staff, Mrs Gower and Miss Algar for nurturing this project.
