Nestled in picturesque gardens overlooking the Swan River, in Perth, Western Australia, Santa Maria College was founded in 1938 by the Sisters of Mercy as a Catholic secondary College for girls. Santa Maria College offers a vibrant, exciting and balanced learning environment within a safe and caring community. Together with the formal academic programs, there is an extensive program of co-curricular opportunities including active community service. A Mercy education is an education for life.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST - ALUMNI CHOIR

Dear Alumni

We are excited to invite former Santa Maria College choir students to be part of a special Alumni Choir performance at the upcoming Cultural Centre Alumni Event on Friday 31 July.

This is a wonderful opportunity for alumni who were involved in choir during their time at Santa Maria to reconnect with fellow choristers and perform on the stage of the College’s brand new Cultural Centre theatre.

The choir will be coordinated and led by Mr Paul Kinsella, Head of Music, with rehearsals taking place in the lead up to the event on:

Tuesday 23 June, 6.00 pm - 7.00 pm
Tuesday 21 July, 6.00 pm - 7.00 pm
Tuesday 28 July, 6.00 pm - 7.00 pm
To perform on the evening, participants will be required to attend at least two of the three rehearsals.

If you were part of a College choir during your time at Santa Maria and would like to be involved, we would love to hear from you.

Please register your expression of interest by Friday 19 June 2026.

We look forward to bringing past choir students together again on this very special occasion.

We are delighted to invite you to the Alumni Celebration of the Opening of the Santa Maria College Cultural Centre on Friday 31 July 2026.

This is a significant moment for our College, and we warmly invite you to share the evening with us.

The theme of the opening is From Dreaming to Light. The evening will include drinks and canapes from 5.00 pm, followed by formalities and a show.

This morning at recess, we welcomed back Hannah Fielder (Class of 2019) for the third session of our Sisterhood Recess Series.

Hannah shared her career journey, from studying Architecture at Curtin University to discovering her passion for the surveying industry. Students gained valuable insight into her day-to-day role and had the opportunity to see some of the advanced technology she uses, including robotic surveying equipment and 3D laser scanners that create digital replicas of buildings and sites.

She also spoke about the variety her role offers, from balancing office and site-based work to travelling regionally and interstate and working in unique environments such as bank vaults, science laboratories and nightclubs.

One of Hannah's key pieces of advice for students interested in architecture, design or related fields was to seek out internship opportunities early to gain firsthand experience and determine whether the industry is the right fit.

Thank you, Hannah, for sharing your career journey and inspiring our students to explore the many pathways available within design, surveying and technology.

From volunteering at St Patrick’s Kitchen as a student to leading public health initiatives in the Philippines, Santa Maria College past student Jessica Pinto (2016) is making a meaningful impact through nursing, service, and global health.

Since graduating, Jessica has built a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse at Fiona Stanley Hospital while continuing to give back through volunteering both locally and overseas. Her story is a powerful reminder of how compassion, courage, and service can shape a life and career.

From a shy student who “lacked self-confidence” to a respected communications leader, TEDx speaker and WA Women’s Hall of Fame inductee, Marie-Anne Keeffe’s (Class of 1986) story is one of courage, resilience and purpose.

Marie-Anne credits Santa Maria College with helping shape her love of storytelling and giving her the confidence to pursue opportunities she never imagined possible.

From journalism and television to leading communications for WA Health, Marie-Anne’s journey is a powerful reminder that kindness, persistence and believing in yourself can lead to extraordinary things. 💙

Her advice to today’s students?
“If you feel lost and not enough, keep believing in yourself. One day you will find your tribe, and there will be a seat at the table for you.”

Olivia Taliangis’ dance journey is a story of persistence, mentorship, and growth. A Santa Maria graduate from the Class of 2022, she overcame self-doubt, completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts at WAAPA in 2025, and now works as a performer, choreographer, and dance teacher. Her story shows how trusted teachers and a strong sense of purpose can help a young person keep going when they are close to giving up.

In 1990, Dr Lawrence made history as Australia’s first female premier and treasurer of a state government, a landmark achievement in Australian politics.
