🔧⚙️ Experience Engineering at Macquarie University ⚙️🔧

Our Years 7–10 students recently attended the Experience Engineering Program at Macquarie University’s brand-new Engineering Building, where they explored the exciting world of engineering through hands-on activities, design challenges and interactive workshops.

Throughout the day, students worked alongside university staff, engineering students and industry professionals, gaining valuable insights into the diverse pathways available in engineering and STEM. They were challenged to think creatively, collaborate with others and apply problem-solving skills to real-world scenarios.

A special thank you to Engineers Australia and Macquarie University for providing such an engaging and inspiring experience. Opportunities like these help students connect classroom learning with future careers and showcase the many possibilities available within the engineering profession.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented Asquith High School, demonstrating enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to challenge themselves throughout the day.

Lunchtime was anything but quiet on Friday 12 June as our Year 9 Battle of the Bands class took to the stage for an exciting concert packed with energy and plenty of great music. The concert featured performances from bands HoEu, Red 40, Snooze Fest, and Papercut who have been playing together for only around 3 months!

Students performed a variety of songs by bands/artists including The Cranberries, Weezer and Tracy Chapman, showcasing an entertaining and diverse program for the audience. Another highlight was HoEu's debut performance of an original song written over the last term, which was a fantastic achievement.

Congratulations to all of the Year 9 students involved for their dedication and enthusiasm, and thank you to everyone who attended and supported this wonderful concert!

Friday is the final day of our Push-Up Challenge fundraiser! Thanks to everyone’s support, we’ve completed 25,661 push-ups and raised $1115 for Headspace Chatswood. 🚀 Future Female Leaders in STEM | Orbispace Excursion 2026

Today, a group of our Year 8 Orbispace students travelled to Sydney’s Tech Central and Stone & Chalk Hub to attend the Future Female Leadership Live event.

Throughout the day, students heard from industry leaders and innovators from organisations including Canva, Qantas, Engineers Australia, Blackbird Ventures, and the leadership team behind The Orbispace Initiative (TOI). Students also participated in interactive workshops, design challenges, guest speaker sessions, and speed mentoring opportunities with more than 100 female STEM mentors from a wide range of industries.

The event challenged students to think creatively, build confidence, and explore the many pathways available within science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

As an ambassador for the program, Delta Goodrem continues to support opportunities that inspire young women to pursue leadership and innovation in STEM fields.

Our students represented Asquith High School exceptionally well and will now begin preparing their project pitch, which they will present later this year in September.

On 18 and 19 June, Asquith High School proudly entered three teams into the NSW Futsal Competition held at Dural. The competition provided students with an excellent opportunity to represent the school, develop their futsal skills, and compete against a variety of schools from across the region.

Under 16 Girls

On 18 June, our Under 16 Girls team, made up of ten Year 10 students, travelled to Dural to compete in a highly competitive division. The girls performed exceptionally well throughout the pool matches, finishing second in their group and earning a place in the semi-finals.

The semi-final against Mackellar Girls Campus was one of the highlights of the competition. Both teams played outstanding futsal, with the match ending 2–2 at the final buzzer. The game then went to a penalty shootout, where Mackellar Girls Campus narrowly came out on top. Although the result did not go our way, the girls should be extremely proud of their effort, teamwork and determination throughout the day.

Under 14 Boys and Under 14 Girls

On 19 June, twenty Year 7 and Year 8 students travelled to Dural to compete in the Under 14 Boys and Under 14 Girls divisions.

The Under 14 Boys team faced a difficult draw, competing in Pool 1 against several strong schools. While results did not always fall in their favour, the boys displayed excellent resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the competition. They consistently encouraged one another and represented the school with pride.

The Under 14 Girls team also found themselves in a challenging pool against strong opposition. The girls worked hard in every match, showing determination and perseverance from start to finish. Although they were unable to progress beyond the pool stage, they demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and supported each other throughout the day.

Congratulations to all students who represented Asquith High School at the NSW Futsal Competition. The students displayed outstanding commitment, teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship throughout both days of competition and were excellent ambassadors for the school. A special thank you to the staff, parents and carers who supported the students and helped make these opportunities possible.

This June, our students and staff have been taking on The Push-Up Challenge from 3–26 June to raise vital funds for Headspace Chatswood. Together, we've already completed an incredible 19,835 push-ups!

🚀 Year 8 Orbispace Update

Our Year 8 Orbispace students have been working hard to develop their skills in innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving as part of this exciting program. Students are currently preparing for their upcoming visit to Tech Central later this term, where they will gain insights into industry and emerging technologies.

The group is also beginning to refine their ideas and build their confidence as they work towards pitching their solutions next term. We look forward to seeing their hard work and creativity on display in the coming months.

🏗️ Girls in Property Program 🏙️

Our Year 10 students recently joined students from 20 schools across Sydney for the Girls in Property Program, an exciting initiative that provides students with insight into careers in property, construction, engineering, architecture, and urban planning.

A highlight of the day was visiting the impressive Atlassian Central development, a landmark $1 billion project currently under construction in Sydney. Students had the opportunity to hear from industry professionals and gain a firsthand understanding of the many careers involved in shaping our cities and communities.

The journey continues as our students now work on a project exploring the future of the retail sector in the Hornsby and Asquith area. They will develop and pitch their ideas to the Property Council of Australia for the opportunity to progress to the next stage of the program.

We look forward to seeing their innovative ideas come to life and wish them the best of luck with their upcoming pitch!

🎉 Congratulations Amy Roelands! 🎉

Amy was recognised as a finalist in the NSW Training Awards – VET in Schools Student of the Year at the Independent Theatre, North Sydney.

Representing Hospitality across the Central and Northern Sydney region, Amy progressed to compete against finalists from Business and Retail, an outstanding achievement that reflects her dedication and excellence in VET.

Amy was proudly supported by her family and Hospitality classmates on the night. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and the way she represented our school and the Hospitality industry. 👏🏆
