** Co-Educational Transition Update **

One of the important steps in our school's 2026 transition to co-education has been establishing a new name.

After a lengthy consultation process, we are pleased to announce that the name Hornsby High School has been formally accepted by the Geographical Names Board. The new name will come into effect from Day 1 Term 1 2026.

We thank the community for your feedback and engagement throughout this process.

Asquith Boys High School: Name Consultation Update
We’d like to thank the P&C for allocating time at the beginning of the meeting for School Principal Mr. Bryce Grant to share the results of the consultation surveys regarding the school name, uniform, and crest as we prepare to transition to a co-educational school in 2026.
Key Guidelines for Naming:
When deciding on a new school name, we must follow a few important guidelines:
• Year 7 – 12 schools must be named ‘High School’.
• The school name should, whenever possible, reflect the suburb in which it is located (e.g., Asquith).
(Note: The use of "Asquith" could be complicated by Asquith Girls High School also having the ability to use the same suburb name.)

Round 2 Consultation Update:
Thank you to everyone who has participated in the second round of our Name Consultation. After the original suggestions were rejected by the Department of Education, we’ve received over 350 responses to the revised survey. We appreciate the time and effort of parents, staff, and students in providing their feedback.
The following new name options have been suggested and are under consideration:
• Great North
• Hornsby District
• Hornsby Heights
• North Shore
• Northview
Additionally, many other viable options were submitted in the survey, and these will also be considered in our final list. Once we receive approval from the Department of Education, we will announce the new name to the community.

ABHS P&C Meeting 25/02/2025 P&C Meeting - Consultation on school name, uniform and logo

Our next P&C meeting will be Tuesday 25th February and will be consulting the committee and joining parents in relation
to the new name options, school uniform and logo for the new co-educational school that we are transitioning to in 2026.

There are a number of guidelines that we will need to confirm in relation to, especially when deciding on a new school name, and they are:
● Year 7 – 12 schools must be named ‘High School’.
● Whenever possible the school is to adopt the name of the suburb in which it is situated, eg. Asquith (this could be an issue with Asquith Girls also having the ability to use the suburb name).

These guidelines do place some restrictions on the new name, however, if you wish to be involved please feel free to join us at the P&C meeting.

Good morning, Parents and Carers,



Late, last evening, we received the catchment notification announcement in relation to the transition of Asquith Boys High School to a co-educational learning environment in 2026.



With primary school being the base for catchment areas, Asquith Boys High School (co-educational from 2026) has the following primary schools as their local enrolment intake for Day 1, Term 1 - 2026.



Hornsby South Primary School
Hornsby North Primary School
Hornsby Heights Primary School
Mt Colah Primary School


We are excited to further the excellent relationship and student intake from the schools located within our catchment area. We are also eager to continue the ongoing and well-established relationship that we have with the many other Primary Schools now considered outside of our catchment area.



Asquith Boys High School will continue to prioritise siblings from our non-catchment Primary Schools and will consider all non-local enrolment applications from students out of our intake area.



All non-local enrolment applications will be assessed from students with reference to our enrolment policy: -



Non-local enrolment applications will be considered with reference to each applicant’s residential address and the following criteria:



Siblings of a student currently enrolled at Asquith Boys High School (co-educational from 2026) are prioritised.
Son, daughter or sibling of a former student of Asquith Boys High School (co-educational from 2026).
Availability of a subject(s) or combination of subjects that can be met at Asquith Boys High School (co-educational from 2026) but are not available at another school.
Compassionate and/or medical circumstances.
Proximity and access to the school.
Structure and organisation of the school.

Have you noticed that the trains have changed timetable again?

The 3:05 PM train to Berowra has been canceled and replaced by a 3:18 PM train, which means all the students miss the connecting bus at Berowra.

This change adds an additional 30 minutes to a student's travel time (15 extra minutes at the station and 20-30 minutes at Berowra for the bus), and it raises significant safety concerns.

Two schools now converge on the narrow platform at the same time, and again at Berowra.

Not only do Asquith girls and boys wait on the narrow bus pathway, but St. Ives High and Kuring-gai students do as well.

This situation is very dangerous.
