Jabiru Community College

Jabiru Community College Jabiru Community College is an independent, non-government school for young people in Years 10, 11 and 12.

We follow the Big Picture learning design to prepare students for opportunities beyond school with an emphasis on relevance and real-world learning. Jabiru Community College is an independent, non-government school. We are a small learning community that celebrates individuality and diversity and offer learning programs for young people in years 10, 11 and 12. Our college community operates on five principles: Relationships, Respect, Responsibilities, Rights, Reflection. We strive to reflect these principles in everything that we do. Together with our students, we are reimagining what school can be for young people who are looking for a radically relevant educational experience.

Big Picture Learning Design is a bit of a mouthful, so here is what it actually means for you.

Instead of starting with a curriculum and fitting you into it, we start with you and build the curriculum around that. Your interests become real projects. Your projects take you out into workplaces with local mentors. And your pathway, whether that is QCE, vocational training or Uni at School, gets built with you, not handed to you.

We are the only school in Brisbane teaching this way. Swipe to see how it works.

Think some schools are backward? Ours is inside out 🌟

At Jabiru, learning starts with you. What you’re into. What you care about. What you want to explore.

As Brisbane’s only Big Picture school, we work with you to turn those interests into projects and learning that actually means something to you.

School is created around you.
