Congratulations to our Star Trophy winners! 🌟🏆

⭐ Prep–Year 3: 2C with 44%
⭐ Years 4–6: 6E with 50%

Fabulous effort from everyone who actively travelled this week!

🍧 Mrs Clennett’s Zooper Dooper Parties are back for Term 4! The classes with the greatest increase in Active School Travel data over the month will win a celebration. Our first winners will be announced at the end of Week 4!

Today, the Active School Travel Crew visited our assembly with an exciting road safety show, reminding us how to stay safe when actively travelling to school. It was also lovely to welcome Councillor Sandy Landers and Gina Davis, Project Officer for the Active School Travel Program.

🚲🛴 Active School Travel kicks off for Term 4 tomorrow!

Let’s fill our bike racks and keep our Active School Travel data climbing! Walk, ride or scoot to school and start the term with some energy and fun.

✨ Scootember continues for the next two weeks! Actively travel to school for your chance to win a light-up scooter generously donated by Councillor Sandy Landers. Teachers will collect the names of students who actively travel tomorrow to enter the draw.

🚶 Our Walking School Bus will leave from both Fred Campbell Park and Rainbow Lorikeet Park tomorrow morning. We’d love to see you there!

🍎 Don’t forget to visit our Recharge Station outside the Library for some fruit to refuel after your journey.

🚲🛴 Bike & Scooter Skills at AESS! 🛴🚲

Aspley East was highly active today with our usual Walking Wheeling Wednesday, followed by our Bike and Scooter Skills sessions run by Brisbane City Council! 🌟

Our Year 2 and 3 students enjoyed learning how to safely manoeuvre their scooters in the community, while our Year 4 and 5 students learnt lots about bike safety, including:

🚴 Correct helmet use
🔧 Which parts of their bike need to be checked regularly
🛑 How and when a quick dismount can help keep them safe

A big thank you to Brisbane City Council for providing these valuable learning opportunities and helping our students build confidence and develop safe travel skills. 💛

What a fantastic way to finish Term 3 with our students learning, moving and staying active!

🚌 Walking School Bus: This week we will only be leaving from Fred Campbell Park at 8:00am.

🚲🛴 Scooter & Bike Skills – Wednesday 16th September

As part of our Brisbane City Council Active School Travel Program, students registered by their parents will be taking part in Scooter and Bike Skills sessions tomorrow.

🛴 Scooter Skills
• Year 2: 10:00–11:00am – 16 students
• Year 3: 11:45am–12:45pm – 15 students

🚲 Bike Skills
• Year 4: 9:00–10:00am – 10 students
• Year 5: 10:00–11:00am – 15 students

Please remember that students must bring their own bike or scooter and helmet to participate in the program.

Mr Kelleher and Mrs Clennett will be supervising students throughout the sessions. We’re looking forward to seeing our students building their confidence and skills and will share some photos on Facebook and in our Newsletter! 😊🌟

Huge congratulations to Hawken (4C) who recently competed in the National All Style Martial Arts Tournament. Hawken took home the GOLD in all three of his Karate segments and is off to Nationals in November.

🚲🛴 ACTIVE SCHOOL TRAVEL REMINDER! 🛴🚲

September is Scootember! 🎉 As most of September falls during the school holidays, we’re extending our Scootember event into Term 4!

If you ride or scooter to school between now and the end of Week 2, Term 4, you can enter the draw to WIN a new scooter and helmet! 🛴⛑️

🎟️ How to enter:
Collect your raffle ticket from the bike rack at the front of the school from 8:15am each morning. Our staff will be there to record your name.

☀️ The weather is looking perfect for active travel this week, so get your bike or scooter ready and aim for as many entries as possible!

🚶‍♀️ Walking School Bus Update:
For the next two weeks, our Walking School Bus will only leave from Fred Campbell Park. The Rainbow Lorikeet Park Walking School Bus will return in Term 4.
