Willunga Waldorf School Community Education presents Kate McMurray: Establishing Healthy Device Use in the Family Home. A conversation for parents from Playgroup to Senior School.

Devices are valuable tools. What is their strength and purpose, and how do they quietly shape our family culture? This talk is a precursor to the two session Zoom workshop Mindfully Managing Devices from Birth to Forever, running 19 and 26 August.

Kate has over 27 years teaching experience, with nearly 20 years in Waldorf Early Childhood education.

Calling all Dads!

We always talk about all and everything that pops up on the day but we will kick of with talking about how the tone and culture of the family comes into being and how every day is a new day for growing the family culture we want.

Come join us to talk about the joys and challenges of being a Dad...

We have been gathering in 2025 and this will be our second gathering for 2026. We look forward to connecting again.

This year we will gather at the Playgroup location on Stringy bark country in Ashton. There will be some hand work to do and take home and we have the beautiful inside space by the fire.

Who: All Dads, StepDads, Grandfathers, Uncles, nearly a Dads... etc!
When: Saturday 13th June 1.30 - 3.30 pm

Join us for a nourishing workshop this Saturday 1.30 - 3.30 in Summertown / Ashton…

Healing spaces: growing rhythms and practices of care during illness.

How do we support ourselves and our little ones when illness comes upon us?

This workshop will look at simple ways to care for nourish and connect during these times.

It is not a medical workshop rather it looks at how we support the whole child and ourselves during these challenging and often sleep deprived times.

How does food, song, connection, story play a part? How do we stop devices from being our only fallback? How do we manage the daily life that relentlessly continues and sibling?

How do we manage the post illness period?

A beautiful opportunity to look at rhythms and care practices that you can use and build as life strategies for your children to take into their own adult lives.

$40-$60 for one person

Life with young children is busy!

Building mindful ways into the early years of life can add much richness, happiness and also lower stress levels in unexpected ways for all.

Join a small group (LIMITED NUMBERS) of other parents for six weeks to reflect on your family culture, the values that are important to your family and how they can guide you on your parenting journey.

This course will be delivered solely via Zoom. There will be an in person opportunity offered following the course for some face to face activities and content.

Over six weeks on Zoom, we will discuss:
· gentle daily rhythms
· respectful care practices
· family values and culture
· seasonal rhythms and celebrations
· understanding around child development
· managing transitions and holding loving boundaries
· nurturing rhythms and practices for the young child
· developing children’s capacity in age appropriate ways
· self care for parents

This course will bring clear insight into child development, the senses, the development of the brain, the bigger picture of family life and the long journey towards raising mindful and kind young adults.

This course would be useful for families from pregnancy to 12 years of age and beyond.

Wednesdays: May 20th, 27th, June 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th
7.45pm - 9.30 pm Via Zoom

Cost: $370 for six weeks including all support materials.

EARLY BIRD RATE: $320 ends Saturday 16th May

Please confirm you place by transferring either the full fee or a deposit of $100.

If you are experiencing financial hardship please get in touch to talk with me about options.

The partner / refresher price is $120 - $200 depending on what you are able to pay. (Usually $370 or $320 earlybird)

If you are able to pay at the full rate it is appreciated and supports others who cannot afford to attend to come along at a lower rate.

This is part one of a two part program totally 12 weeks. Part two will be offered later in 2026

* I get many requests from people wanting to complete this course again and there are quite a few who have done it more than once - it feels deeply nourishing and helpful both times I am told!

Willunga Waldorf School is hosting a Connected Parenting conversation morning with Kate McMurray on Wednesday 13 May, 9.00am to 11.00am in the Sanctuary.

Kate brings nearly 16 years of experience in Waldorf Early Childhood education and will explore how maintaining nourishing relationships can lead to a more peaceful family life.
