Clean Up Australia Day 🌿 🌏
Earlier this year, our AQ Social Justice Group proudly participated in National Clean Up Australia Day, taking meaningful action to care for our environment and local community.
Led by Sustainability Prefect Lucy, 21 students from Years 7 to 12 walked from The Spit to Main Beach, collecting rubbish along the coastline and waterways to help protect our beautiful Gold Coast beaches.
By the end of the day, students had filled a wagon and countless bags with litter, removing everything from bottle tops to larger discarded items, including a bike wheel.
We are incredibly proud of the compassion, teamwork and leadership shown by these students as they demonstrated a hands-on commitment to caring for our planet and serving the community.

National Sorry Day
Last week, our students marked National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week by sharing heartfelt reflections on what reconciliation means to them.
Aligned with the 2026 theme, “All in for Reconciliation”, students contributed thoughtful messages that will form part of a ‘sea of hands’ initiative alongside Guardian Angels Primary School.
Throughout National Reconciliation Week, our students will continue engaging in meaningful initiatives that encourage understanding, respect and connection as we strengthen our shared commitment to reconciliation.
Together, we are learning, reflecting and taking positive steps towards a more united community.

Year 12 Retreat 2026 🌿
Our Year 12 students recently gathered at Lake Ainsworth for their annual retreat, centred on the theme “I have called you by name” (Isaiah 43:1).
Across three days, students stepped away from the busyness of school life to reflect, connect and grow in faith and friendship. Through liturgy, shared reflection, team-building, outdoor challenges and moments of affirmation, they were invited to recognise their own strengths and the gifts of those around them.
A special pebble ritual reminded students that while each person is unique, every individual is known, valued and an important part of our Aquinas community.
As they move through their final year, we hold onto this message:
Class of 2026 — you are known, you are valued, you belong. 💙
Together we shine. Together we belong.

“I loved hearing their stories and getting to know and understand the different situations that people are in.”– AQ Student, Gabi.
Recently, students Moni, Gabi and Mia took part in the Rosies outreach program alongside staff Mrs Hropic and Miss Weti.
From a student's perspective, the evening was not what they expected, but in the most positive way. They reflected on how meaningful it was to step into a different environment, listen to people’s stories, and gain a deeper understanding of the different circumstances people experience.
The opportunity to connect, even briefly, left a lasting impact, with students describing the experience as both humbling and eye-opening.
We are grateful for the chance to be involved in programs like Rosies that encourage empathy, awareness and service within our community. 💙
