Today, AMS Project Manager Milika Nation, together with Br Peter Corr, visited Kulugia Primary School in Kulugia, Timor-Leste 🇹🇱

Thanks to the generous support of our Marist Networks, a new three-classroom building is currently being constructed for Grades 4, 5 and 6. Located in a remote area, the new classrooms will provide much-needed support and opportunities for the young people of the community 🙌

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Kulugia Primary School and the local leaders for welcoming us with such warmth, open arms and big smiles🙂

Over the past two days, AMS has been working alongside Australian Catholic University (ACU) through a “Train the Trainers” workshop as part of important research focused on the needs of young people across the Baucau Diocese region of Timor-Leste 🇹🇱

We’re pleased to share that all participants have successfully completed their training! 🎉 The trainers will now take what they have learnt and help facilitate and share this knowledge with young people in the communities of Baucau and Lautem.

✍️ The research project seeks to directly engage with young people and youth services, capturing a detailed understanding of community needs from the perspective of one of its most vibrant, yet vulnerable, demographics.

It also aims to map the existing community assets and capacities that can support education initiatives and help encourage young people as they transition into adulthood.

Congratulations to all participants! 👏 🥳

A heartfelt thank you to St Teresa’s Catholic College in Noosaville, Brisbane, for hosting a Trivia Night and raising an incredible $3,810.37 for AMS.

The funds were presented by students to Br Neville Solomon, Acting Executive Director of AMS.

We are deeply grateful to the students, staff and wider St Teresa’s community for their generosity and support. It is through the kindness and commitment of schools like St Teresa’s that AMS can continue its work of assisting and strengthening communities across the Asia-Pacific region. 🙂

Dear supporters and friends – it’s almost June 30! And for young women throughout Asia and the Pacific, like Alisan and Joana, your financial support means everything.

Alisan had no access to school. No sign language. No way to communicate. Today, she is learning, connecting, and building a future. Joana grew up isolated, never meeting another deaf person. Now, she is gaining confidence and encouraging others to follow her path.

This EOFY, you can help more young women like Alisan and Joana lead the way. Please support our Mid-Year Appeal so young women lead change in their communities.

Alisan said, “I never imagined I would go to school.”

Growing up deaf on a remote island in the Solomon Islands, opportunities felt out of reach - until she arrived at San Isidro Care Centre. Now she’s learning sign language, building skills, and dreaming of independence and working to support her family.

This EOFY, you can help more young women like Alisan lead the way. AMS invites all supporters and friends to donate to the Mid-Year Appeal and help girls and young women lead change in their communities.

Australian Marist Solidarity (AMS) was fortunate to travel to Fiji last week to conduct a project monitoring visit to Ratu Mara Hostel at Marist Brothers' High School 🇫🇯

Home to approximately 80 young boys, the hostel is currently undertaking Phase 1 of a three-phase renovation project that will deliver much-needed improvements to the facility 💜

🏡 The first stage focuses on replacing and repairing the hostel's roof; the first major roof upgrade since the building was constructed decades ago.

These renovations will help provide a safer, more secure, and more comfortable living environment for the students who call the hostel home!
