⛪ Our Year 5 students visited St Mary’s Cathedral to launch their Church History unit.

During a guided tour of Sydney’s Mother Church, students learned about the Cathedral’s history, how it came to be built and the significance of its many features and symbols.

A visit to the crypt highlighted both the Cathedral’s history and its continuing story, providing a meaningful connection to their classroom learning.

🎈Our Stage 1 students had a great day at Rozelle Parklands for their ‘push and pull’ excursion with our learning partners at Ranger Jamie Tours.

The activities included squashing and stretching slime, launching air pressure rockets, billy cart championships, soda bag popping and a tug of war.

It was a fantastic, hands-on day of learning and outdoor fun for everyone involved!

🚀Our Stage 2 students participated in a ‘forces’ incursion with our learning partners at Ranger Jamie Tours.

Through a series of hands-on experiments, students investigated forces and motion. They launched rockets using chemical reactions and high pressure, and discovered how chemical reactions can create enough force to send objects soaring into the air.

The afternoon was filled with plenty of memorable moments as students experienced science in action.

🕊️Our Year 6 students recently celebrated an important milestone in their faith journey, receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

As part of their preparation, students participated in a Reflection Day where they explored the meaning of Confirmation, strengthened their relationship with Jesus through prayer and reflection and considered how they can put their faith into action in their daily lives.

Living out this commitment, students created Cards of Hope to accompany the snack packs being prepared for the K - 6 St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal, sharing messages of encouragement and kindness with those in need.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide our students as they grow in faith, service and commitment to Christ.

🎸 What a day at the Sydney Catholic Schools Eisteddfod!

With changes to both line-ups this year, it was the first time our rock bands had performed live in their current form.

Our Intermediate Rock Band impressed with their performance of Complicated by Avril Lavigne, earning praise for their vocal intonation and strong finish.

Our Advanced Band delivered a standout performance of The Chain by Fleetwood Mac, taking out 1st place and securing a Standby Ticket for next month’s Eisteddfod Showcase.

Congratulations to all our musicians on their outstanding performances and for representing St Vincent’s College so proudly. 🎶🏆

🖤💛❤️ All In for Reconciliation 💙💚🤍

This National Reconciliation Week, our College community went ‘All In’. This year’s theme is a call to move past empty gestures and treat reconciliation as a shared, everyday responsibility.

Here is how our K-12 students took action:
Sharing Culture: Our Mirrung (‘Belonging’) students led an assembly about the roots of Reconciliation, featuring a beautiful ‘jidgi’ (willy-wagtail) dance from our Early Years. Primary students also visited the Mirrung Room to learn about Wangal Country, the Eel Dreaming and Aboriginal art symbols.

1,000+ Bracelets: For weeks, students across all year groups spent their pastoral care, homeroom and lunch breaks creating bracelets in the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags.

The Solidarity Exchange: At last Friday’s K-12 Assembly, every single student and staff member was gifted a bracelet made by the hands of a peer - a reminder that we have to work together.

We originally planned to collect the bracelets at the end of the day to build a permanent ‘circle of commitment’ art installation. However, 70% of our students asked to keep theirs. They chose to take that connection home to their family dinner tables, proving that reconciliation here is a lived, ongoing culture shift.
