Words cannot do justice to my amazing four years in Armidale – a place where I found myself and was transformed academically and personally. Living on campus and engaging with students from different countries broadened my worldview. I built life-time friendships and discovered new cultures.

We're so excited to celebrate Paris Brailsford, who recently graduated with her Bachelor of Economics/Bachelor of Laws from UNE! 🎓

Paris has already smoothly transitioned into a full-time role at an Armidale law firm Moin Morris Schaefer Lawyers and is ready to start her Practical Legal Training. "UNE's on-campus opportunities, expert lecturers... equipped me with a keen interest in the law and all the right foundations for success," she says. Her paralegal work truly ignited her passion for regional practice.

Her top advice for students? "Get involved in opportunities and events beyond the classroom and be intentional in how you manage your time... make your time at UNE count."

And why Economics and Law? "I would choose Economics and Law a million times over," Paris says, for bringing "a unique interdisciplinary approach to legal problems," especially in diverse regional cases.

Cheers to your amazing journey, Paris! We can't wait to see all you achieve. 💚

Seventh-generation farmer Georgina Pengilley has long been a fan of woollen garments, growing up on a sheep and cropping property in the cooler climes of Tasmania, attending UNE for her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and now residing in Armidale.

But her focus is now on cotton as the newly appointed Managing Director of the Cotton Research & Development Corporation (CRDC).

Georgina’s appointment ushers in a new era of research, development and extension leadership.

“Scientifically, UNE equipped me very well. It taught me about problem solving, how to learn, and the mentorship helped me to build connections and networks," she says.

"UNE’s reputation has paid dividends for me throughout my career. I hope that my daughter Isobel, who is now studying agriculture and business at UNE, reaps those same benefits.”
