A tiny new addition to the ASC Farm
This Wednesday we welcomed our smallest lamb to be born here at ASC.

A tiny ewe lamb, born as one of a set of twins, weighing in at a tiny 3 kilograms. Pictured are two of our Livestock team kids Albert Waters and Max Clee comparing the new little tiny tot lamb to our biggest born lamb known as "Little John" who weighed 3 times our new additions weight at birth - in this picture he is only 10 days old!

Having these two lambs have been an excellent point of discussion in our Agriculture and Technology classes regarding how genetics and our management decisions can influence our livestock's growth and productivity.

2026 NIAS Athletics Program: Applications Open
We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the NIAS Athletics Program. Please share with your communities.

NIAS is offering Athletics as a program for the first time in some years. We will be working closely with the North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) to structure the program, which we believe will create great value for Northern Inland athletes.

The program has been designed to deliver three intensive two-day weekend workshops. This format will provide athletes with concentrated learning opportunities, increased access to specialist coaching, and help reduce the ongoing travel demands placed on athletes and families throughout the season.

The involvement of athletes and coaches from NCAS, and potentially the Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS), broadening the range of coaching expertise and creating a stronger regional performance environment.

The NIAS Athletics Program is designed to enhance and complement the coaching athletes are already receiving through their local coaches and clubs.

The program will support athletes aged 13–19 years across track and field disciplines, including both able-bodied athletes and para-athletes. The focus will be on technical event development, physical preparation, strength and conditioning, nutrition and sports psychology education, athlete wellbeing and long-term pathway progression.

2026/27 Intensive Weekends

Weekend 1 – Coffs Harbour
12–13 September 2026

Athletes and families will arrange their own travel to Coffs Harbour. Any accommodation required will be the responsibility of athletes and families.

Weekend 2 – Tamworth
10–11 October 2026

Athletes and families will arrange their own travel to Tamworth. Any accommodation required will be the responsibility of athletes and families.

Weekend 3 – Ballina
14–15 November 2026

This weekend will operate as a live-in camp, with athletes staying together alongside coaches and teammates. Accommodation and meals for the Ballina live-in camp are included in the program levy. Travel to and from Ballina will be arranged by athletes and families.

The 2026/27 NIAS Athletics Program levy is $600 + GST ($660 including GST).

This includes participation in the three intensive training weekends, weekly strength and conditioning, nutrition and sports psychology education, as well as accommodation and meals for the Ballina live-in camp.

Congratulations Taylor Randel.

The FM 100.3 Junior Sports star is Taylor Randel for Hockey. Taylor represented NSW and NSW All Schools at the National titles in Melbourne recently, where NSW won the silver medal.
Taylor also receives a free three-month gym membership at PCYC, plus access to Global coaching sessions, thanks to Annyka Overton

Best wishes to Year 12 Dance class as they do their practical HSC exams today! Emily, Georgia, Jess and Grace have been working hard all year and it all pays off today! A special thank you to our junior dancers Rececca, Amelia, Steph and Ariana who performed compositions today.

We are very proud to have our first HSC Dance class since becoming ASC. Ms Lauren Cordingley joined our PE faculty in 2024 and is a qualified HSC Dance teacher. We currently offer Dance as a subject from Year 8-12 and HPGE/extra-curricular opportunities from Year 7.

Each Year 12 Dancer stepped in front of the 3 external markers 3 times today, presenting a combination of Performances and Compositions. Each piece also required a 6 minute verbal interview with the markers. Congratulations girls, a physically and mentally demanding day but you should all be very proud!

FTC Teach Week
As part of our celebrations for Education Week, the Future Teachers Club launched our very first Teach Week! 🎉

Teach Week gave students the chance to work in groups, prepare and deliver their own lessons, and receive valuable feedback from their class teacher. It’s all about building confidence and developing teaching skills for the future!

A huge thank you to Dr Casey Mainsbridge from UNE for leading an inspiring session on lesson planning.

Congratulations to the 20 students who took part, delivering fantastic lessons in Geography, Agriculture, PDHPE, Mathematics, and even teaching animal habitats to our inclusive education unit. We’re so proud of everyone involved!
