Meet one of our International Student Ambassadors Jess Fearnley! 🤗

Hi there! I am from Bathurst NSW. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Rural Science here at UNE with plans to pursue a Masters in Science majoring in Agriculture. This year is my third year at UNE and third year living at Duval College and I have loved every minute of it. As a UNE International Student Ambassador I want to promote the amazing opportunities UNE has to offer both in the University but also in the Residential system. I also want to encourage stronger connections between the Domestic and International students to enhance the experiences people can have here studying at UNE.

Meet one of our International Student Ambassadors Yode Fagbenle! 🤗

Hi everyone! I’m a townie and I’m currently in the second year of my Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting. As an ambassador, I aim to improve and strengthen International and Domestic student relations by engaging both cohorts in a variety of events organised, facilitated and led by the UNE International Student Ambassador program. I hope to further improve my leadership and social skills while raising the aspirations of students and bridging the disconnect between International and Domestic students, while hopefully laying a framework upon which future ambassadors can build to promote UNE as a prime choice.

Meet one of our International Student Ambassador Harriet Gausi! 🤗

Hi all! I’m from Malawi, Africa and I’m an international student in the third year of my PhD in Agriculture. I first came to UNE in May 2012 for a short course in livestock production systems. A year later, I read about Australia Awards for Africa, a scholarship program which offers scholarships to study a PhD at any Australian University. I got a lot of support during the application process from UNE Professors Paul Iji, John Gibson and Dr Kelly Drake; as a result, I did not want to go to any other university but UNE. I have done research in scavenging chickens in Malawi, as these chickens play a big role in the livelihood of rural communities. Becoming a UNE International Student Ambassador has given me the opportunity to provide any support needed by on and off campus students, Domestic and International and provide any support to assist them with their studies at UNE.

Meet one of our International Student Ambassadors Sheeraz Ahmad! 🤗

I am Sheeraz Ahmad from Pakistan, I did my master degree in Rural Science from UNE (2010-2012) and currently enrolled as PhD student with UNE Business School (2017-2020). My PhD research is about “Consumer preferences and opportunities for differentiations: Insights of Tomato Value Chain in Pakistan”. The incredible time spent in the past at UNE and Armidale, fetched me back to achieve the greatest milestone of my life.

Being back at UNE, I was looking for something exciting, productive and new. I have participated in various social/communal activities, sports and volunteer work. Traveling and sports are my passion, I enjoy playing cricket as a competent all-rounder. I am lucky enough to be selected as one of the UNE-International student ambassadors, which I believe is a unique and tremendous program to connect international and domestic students. The international student ambassador program is quite open for all UNE students and ‘We’ as team are committed to achieve the set goals and objectives.
