On Thursday 25 June, the Armidale AMEP team proudly hosted a Refugee Week and End of Term celebration for students, while also opening the event to the wider TAFE campus community and local community partners.
This year’s Refugee Week theme, A Million Stories, recognises the experiences, resilience, and contributions that people from refugee backgrounds bring to communities across Australia.
The event brought together students, staff, community organisations, and local services for a day of connection and celebration, featuring a Welcome to Country, student singing and dancing performances, community stalls in the library, shared food and refreshments, and opportunities to learn from and connect with one another.
A highlight of the day was the winter clothing giveaway, with students and families taking home warm clothing generously donated by the local community — a meaningful reminder that support and belonging are built through everyday acts of generosity.
Organised by the AMEP team, the celebration reflected a commitment not only to supporting students, but also to strengthening connections across the TAFE campus and the broader Armidale community.
Together, another story of welcome, connection, and community was created.
Thank you to all community organisations, volunteers, donors, students, and staff who helped make the day possible.
