What an incredible day at our Athletics Carnival on Tuesday! The energy was sky-high as our awesome students gave their all in the field events. ๐ŸŒŸ It was amazing to see so many personal bests and fearless efforts out on the field.

A massive thank you to the students from Armidale Secondary College for helping run the events โ€” your support and teamwork made the day run smoothly! ๐Ÿ™Œ And to all the families who came along to cheer on our athletes, your encouragement means the world.

So proud of our athletes for bringing their best and cheering each other on!

On Wednesday, some Stage 3 students travelled to Glen Innes to take part in an Aboriginal dance workshop run by the Brolga Dance Academy in coordination with the NSW Department of Education's Arts Unit. Led by experienced First Nations dance teachers, students learned about culture through movement in contemporary Indigenous dance.
This was an amazing experience for our students to connect deeply with Indigenous culture through dance, to learn and strengthen their skills and connect with old and new friends. A big thank you to the Brolga Dance Academy for this enriching program and to Glen Innes Public School for hosting the event.

Reconciliation Week at Sandon
Students engaged in learning tasks across the week that explored what reconciliation means to them, making connections to the theme this year 'All In'. At Sandon, our Shine Values reflect the importance of showing respect and including others.

On Monday, we welcomed families and visitors to our 2026 Reconciliation week assembly. Thank you to our proud Stage 3 Aboriginal students who represented Sandon when addressing our assembly, Hunter, Nyah, Brayden, Alexa, Ariarna, Maylarah, Jekarn, Jayda, Jorja, Brielle and Gia.

Our Stage 1 students enjoyed sharing what they have learnt in Music lessons. Singing 'Kookaburra sits in an old gumtree' in an Aboriginal dialect.

We were grateful to have the opportunity to see the talented Lyambay dancers from Armidale Secondary College perform for us again this year. We were so proud to see nine of our ex Sandon students return as part of the dance group.

Thank you to all our families and visitors for celebrating Reconciliation week with us.

This month, Sandon staff made a pink pledge to wear pink to help Australians impacted by breast cancer. And TODAY is the day!
They are doing this to support people in Australia impacted by breast cancer, and to raise funds for research focused on how to detect, prevent, treat and stop the progression and recurrence of breast cancer โ€“ research that ultimately save lives.
Every donation brings us closer to zero deaths from breast cancer. ๐Ÿฉท

๐ŸŒŸMel, Mrs Kitchener, Mrs Debreceny, and Miss Dunne attended EDUtech Australia, where they were inspired by new ways to use technology and AI in education. Theyโ€™re excited to explore how these tools can support student learning, help develop future-ready skills, and make our school more connectedโ€”while always protecting what makes us human. Watch this space as we bring these fresh ideas to our classrooms! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ“š
