In this colloquium, we will tell the story of this year's Nobel Prize in Physics. We will talk about entanglement: its importance and implications. We will talk about photons and their instrumental role in the important experiments that established the reality (aha!) of entanglement.

The John Mainstone Youth Lecture tour is showing its resilience and is looking to brave the COVID impacts!

The August lockdown and the current smaller local outbreaks across Queensland, forced us to again reschedule the JMYLT 2021.

After delivering his first presentation to All Hallows in Brisbane, after the snap lock down ended Dr. Stringer was forced to step aside from this years lectureship role to ensure he can be there for his family! We wish them all the best in these trialing times!

Dr. Jacinda Gingesalso had to reschedule her trip to Mt. Isa, and has now offered to also take over presentations in Weipa and Cairns this year, ensuring we can reach some of our most remote communities!
Jacinda will present at Cairns SHS on Wed. 6/10, in Weipa on the 7th and in Mt. Isa on the 13th of October!

The Queensland Branch is preparing for their annual general meeting and we are calling for applications form interested members that would like to join the committee for the 2022 calendar year.

The committee is looking to diversify the professional base of its members, and is therefore especially encouraging applications from members not employed in the academic sector. Industry, secondary school educators, student members (PhD or Undergraduates) or members working in the government sector are especially encourage to apply.

To apply, please send a short! (2 page max) CV and a short motivational statement to the secretary ([email protected]) or chair ([email protected]), by no later than the 28th of September 16:00h AEST.
