โœˆ๏ธ Some journeys start with a single flight โ€” and this time, it was enough to bring someone back.

Kim ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ had done a trial flight with us before, and that one taste of the sky stuck with him. When it came time to choose where to train, one thing made the decision easy โ€” finding out our Head of Operations is from Hong Kong, just like him. Suddenly, everything felt a little more comfortable, a real sense of warmth.

Ask Kim what he loves about flying, and it's simple: the feeling of controlling the machine, the view from up above, unlike anything else. He's now working towards his first solo, and while his instructors have made it a priority to give him as much hands-on flying time as possible, he'll be the first to admit โ€” circuits are no joke. Managing everything at once, all in the same breath, has been his biggest challenge yet.

Then there's Hayden ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ, who's brought his own story all the way from Canada. Studying towards a future in aviation engineering, he figured real flying experience would only make him a better engineer down the line. But there was another reason he packed his bags โ€” he hadn't seen his friend Kim in a long time, and when the chance came to fly together in Australia, he wasn't going to miss it.

For Hayden, the hardest part so far? Getting the radio calls to tower just right, and remembering every flow check before the engine even starts.

Two friends, two different reasons, one shared sky โ€” chasing their first solo, together.

Welcome, Kim and Hayden. ๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ

From FlyLink and onwards โ€” go get it, Clara ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐโœˆ๏ธ

One month. That's all the time Clara had with us โ€” and she didn't just show up, she showed up *fully*, even while racing to finish her thesis as a bug scientist ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ”ฌ.

Between thesis deadlines and ground school, late nights writing and early mornings at the airfield, she never once let one pull her away from the other. She simply found a way to do both.

That's the kind of pilot personality we've seen in her all along โ€” precise, composed, unshakeable under pressure. Not because things were easy, but because she made the choice, every single day, not to give up.

To us, this month was never about testing her. It was about helping her understand the principles that'll carry her forward โ€” and getting her ready for what's next, including the Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme.

We couldn't be prouder to have been part of chapter one of her story.

We're rooting for you, Clara. Go show them what you're made of. ๐ŸŒŸ

Congratulations to Cheng ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ on completing his CASA Commercial Pilot Licence training at FlyLink โ€” earning a โ€œflawlessโ€ compliment from his examiner at the end of the check-ride. โœˆ๏ธ

Earlier this year, our team was on the road across Malaysia, meeting aspiring pilots who were just beginning to think about what this journey could look like. Cheng is now what that journey produces.

He is the first Malaysian CPL pilot from our programme, and the third CPL graduate of 2026.

And now the next chapter begins โ€” MEIR training. At FlyLink, that means something different to most schools.

Most flight training organisations deliver their Multi-Engine Instrument Rating course on a single aircraft type. A Piper Seminole, a Beechcraft Baron, a Piper Comanche, a Diamond DA42, or even a Beechcraft Duchess.

At Flylink, Cheng will fly two. First the Beechcraft Baron 55 โ€” the king of light piston twins, where every power, mixture, and propeller input is managed by hand and by understanding. Then the Diamond DA42 โ€” FADEC-managed, G1000 glass cockpit, the same aircraft used by international schools training major airline cadets worldwide.

Two aircraft. Two systems. One course fee.

To our knowledge, we are the only school in Australia currently offering this within a single standard MEIR course. That is not a luxury add-on โ€” it is simply how we believe this course should be delivered.

Well done, Cheng. Fly Above Challenge. โœˆ๏ธ

โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ Jason ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ โ€” Learning to think, not just follow

Congratulations to Jason on completing his first solo flight! ๐Ÿ‘

In a lot of classrooms, the model is simple: the teacher instructs, the student follows. That's how Jason was taught to learn โ€” listen, absorb, do as guided. It's a discipline in itself.

But flying doesn't work that way.

We don't just teach students what to do โ€” we teach them how to decide. How to judge a situation, weigh the variables, and apply what they know to a scenario that's never exactly the same twice. Because up there, when it's a solo flight, there's no instructor to turn to. No one giving the next instruction. Just the pilot, and the judgement they've built.

That shift โ€” from following guidance to trusting your own decision-making โ€” is one of the hardest parts of learning to fly. And it's exactly what Jason had to build from the ground up.

Today, he proved he'd made that shift. He sat in the cockpit alone, made his own calls, and flew his first solo โœˆ๏ธ

Well done Jason ๐Ÿ‘

Two tracks, one finish line. โœˆ๏ธ

Congratulations to Bikal ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต on passing CADA โ€” the Aerodynamics exam, one of the seven CPL theory subjects.

The rainy days grounded flight training, so Bikal used the downtime to go all in on CPL theory. Now that the weather's cleared, flight training is back on โ€” and he's in the final stage of his PPL, gearing up for his Flight Test.

So the plan shifts into two tracks at once: finishing strong on the PPL Flight Test while continuing to knock out the remaining four CPL subjects in parallel.

Same reasoning as last time: don't wait around when you don't have to. Two tracks moving together means no dead time between milestones.

Flight test prep is on. Four CPL subjects left. Exciting stretch ahead.

Well done, Bikal. Fly Above Challenge. โœˆ๏ธ

โœˆ๏ธ Welcome to the team โ€” Adelina ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ & Rawan ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช

Two new faces at FlyLink, two very different paths in.

Adelina trained at Melbourne before visiting us earlier this year โ€” and she felt something click. The vibe, the style, the way things run here. So she made the call to join us full time.

She's not starting from zero either. A bit of flying time in the DA20 back in her hometown means she's already got a feel for the controls. That head start should make the transition smoother as she settles in.

Rawan, on the other hand, is a familiar face already โ€” most of us have crossed paths with her before. She joined a few weeks ago part time, and now she's stepping it up: enrolling in our full-time 4-week RPL theory course.

Rather than rushing into the air, Rawan's choosing to build the foundation first โ€” locking in the concepts before she ever takes the controls. That's a deliberate way to start, and it'll pay off once she's in the cockpit.

Two students, two different starting points, same direction: forward.

Welcome to FlyLink, Adelina and Rawan. โœˆ๏ธ

โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ Sia โ€” Every hour counted

Time is the one thing you can't make more of.

Sia knows that better than most.

Between running a property business and managing the demands of daily life, spare time doesn't come easy.

But since the end of January this year, whenever a gap appeared in his schedule โ€” he filled it with flying.

Not because it was convenient.

Because flying is what he actually wanted to do with the time he had.

Every session at FlyLink was carved out deliberately.

Every lesson was one he chose over everything else he could have done that day.

And in the cockpit, that same mindset showed up.

When something wasn't right, he didn't waste time avoiding it.

He called it out. Fixed it. Moved forward.

That's how he built โ€” hour by hour, lesson by lesson, since January.

It all added up to one moment.

โœ”๏ธ First Solo โ€” achieved.

Just Sia and the aircraft.

No instructor. No one else.

Only what he built with the time he chose to invest.

And he didn't stop there.

That same week, he kept going โ€” second, third, and fourth solo.

Each one built on the last โ€” more control, more confidence, more trust in himself behind the controls.

That's what real progress looks like. Not one big moment, but a string of them, each one chosen the same way the first was.

We're still just as proud looking back on it now as we were the day it happened. Onward toward that PPL. โœˆ๏ธ

โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ Nimish ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ โ€” MPPC Endorsement Achieved

By day, he's deep in data.

By passion, he's up in the sky.

Nimish works full-time as a Data Operations Manager โ€” and every chance outside of work, he's in the cockpit pursuing what he loves.

He didn't start from zero either.

Before walking through FlyLink's doors, Nimish had already earned his RPL through A.S. Flying School at Archerfield. When he was ready to step into a more advanced aircraft, A.S. Flying School pointed him in our direction โ€” specifically for the Diamond DA40.

That brought him to FlyLink.

Today, he completed his MPPC Design Feature Endorsement โ€” and with that done, he's now focused on one thing: working toward his PPL.

Congratulations Nimish โœˆ๏ธ

One step closer. โœˆ๏ธ

Congratulations to Evan ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ผ and Bikal ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ on passing their PPL theory examination.

Here's the part that might look unusual at first glance โ€” both Evan and Bikal have already been deep into CPL ground theory, having previously passed several CPL subjects well ahead of most PPL students. So why sit a PPL theory exam now?

In Australia, candidates can sit their CASA PPL Flight Test by passing either the PPL theory exam, or all seven CPL theory subjects. Evan and Bikal are approaching the final stage of their practical flight training, but haven't yet completed all seven CPL subjects. Since their CPL studies already covered everything required for the PPL theory exam, we made the call to sit them for it now โ€” so their flight test doesn't have to wait on the remaining CPL subjects to catch up.

Smart sequencing. No wasted time. Just two students and an instructing team thinking a few steps ahead.

Step by step, the PPL finish line gets closer.

Well done, Evan and Bikal. Fly Above Challenge. โœˆ๏ธ

โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ Anson ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ โ€” The dream was delayed, not forgotten

Some people don't give up on flying.

Life just takes them somewhere else first.

Anson graduated with a Bachelor of Aviation from our partner university, Griffith University.

He had the knowledge. He had the foundation.

But after graduating, a different career path called โ€” and he followed it.

He built his life in property management.

Aviation sat quietly in the background.

Not gone.

Just waiting.

Then came a Trial Flight with Mook ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ โ€” and the moment he sat back in that cockpit, something clicked back into place.

The feeling was still there.

The passion never left.

He just needed that one flight to remind him.

So he made a decision.

Now, while most people use weekends to switch off, Anson drives to FlyLink to train.

Full-time job during the week.

Flight training on his days off.

Not because it's easy.

Because flying is what he actually wants to do.

The dream is back on track.

Welcome to FlyLink, Anson โœˆ๏ธ
