Matthew stacked some cones at playtime, and Miss Thorburn spotted an opportunity to turn his creation into a Number Talk for the class. Students shared their thinking, noticed patterns and explained how they saw the numbers in the image.

A simple moment at playtime became a great opportunity for mathematical thinking, discussion and learning!
