Our school will be celebrating Book Week on Tuesday (August 25). Students can dress as a favourite book character. Please bring the book too. Parents/carers are welcome to come along to watch the parade, commencing at 9:00 am.

To coincide with our zoo excursion, and as part of Art this Term, the Prep/1 class have been putting together their own little zoo. We've also been learning what groups of each animal is called. (You can see this in the caption under each pic). We have a few more weeks, and animals to go, so keep a look out for them towards the end of Term. 🦁🐒🐊🦓🐍

We had a ROARsome time at the Darling Downs Zoo today. We were entertained by the baboons and all the different monkeys....

We had a ROARsome time at the Darling Downs Zoo today. We were entertained by the baboons and all the different monkeys. We were enthralled by the leopard and cheetah. We heard the lions roar, watched the giraffes eating and tried to get the zebras to pose for us. The ostriches danced for us, we fed the capybaras and we all patted Doug the python. We had the best day and have lots of stories to share about our fun excursion to the zoo.

*sufficient food for the day (pack extra)
*warm clothes in case it's cold
*applied sunscreen before coming to school

Next week is Book Week. We will be celebrating with our annual parade on Tuesday, August 25 at 9:00 am. Students are encouraged to dress up as a character from a favourite book. This is a great chance for students to get creative. We love to see home-made costumes and ones created from items you already have on hand. While this year's theme is 'A Symphony of Stories', we are making this optional. Students can dress as any book character, or one with a musical theme.

Some of the students that represented Aratula State School at the athletics trials at St Lucia over the last 2 days.
Toby and Asher put in a great effort in the Shotput.
Asher came 5th in his 200 metres heat.
Dustin broke the Long Jump record yesterday (by 20cm), and did his personal best in the High Jump event today, jumping 1.24 metres. He goes on to compete at the Regional Trials.
A tremendous effort by all of them. Well done!
