Dear families,
The Great Ocean Road Running Festival is happening this coming weekend (May 16&17). Along with the school Fete, this is one of our school’s biggest annual fundraisers. Historically, our school community has mustered upwards of 120 volunteers for this event each year. The contributions of these volunteers bring in upwards of $12,000 annually for the school.
Currently, we only have about 60 volunteers and the vast majority of those who have signed up have been involved in previous years. We are still in need of around 70 additional volunteers. As some of our stalwart volunteering families approach the end of their schooling journeys, we are hoping that the next generation of families will step up to fill their shoes. A huge thank you to all the staff, students, and parents who are already signed up to volunteer for the school or for another local group!
To sign up, you can:
- email, text, or call me ([email protected], 0491104487)
- call the school office on Monday and ask to have your name added to the list
- stop by the school office to sign up
Below are the positions still needing to be filled:
Saturday Finish Line Area
Drink Station (4 needed)
General helpers (8 needed)
Sunday Drink Stations
Volunteering at a drink station is a great role for groups of friends or a few families.
Browns Creek Drink Station (10 needed)
Marriners Drink Station (10 needed)
Finish Line Drink Station (15 needed)
Sunday Road Marshals
These roles are responsible for monitoring an assigned roadblock location along the course. Many of these roles are best shared between two people so volunteers can have breaks. The positions still needing to be filled are:
Tiger Lane- Skenes Creek (1 needed)
Wild Dog Rd. (2 needed)
Milford St. (1 needed)
Cawood St. (2 needed)
Murray St. (1 needed)
Hardy St. (1 needed)
Sunday Bag Drop (International Trip Families) - 15 needed
Any students taking part in the next international trip should be signed up for a volunteer position- ideally the bag drop. They have also been asked to rope in one of their family members as an extra helper for at least the first few hours to get the bags organised.
