Sustainable practices and nature play are at the heart of our identity. Therefore, the conference is one of our favourite events. This group of volunteers continually advocates for the rights of children to sustainable practices and access to nature and we are so grateful for your work.

Thank you for allowing us to share two of our stories at this conference, Dia shared our preschooler's mapping work and Colly shared our school's .au learning, what a joy!

As we wave goodbye to Plastic Free July, it feels fitting that I share (with a great deal of excitement and pride) our first Annual Little School on the Roof Community Banish Impact Report

Here at The Little School on the Roof we believe that small actions create big change—and this report proves it. In the twelve months from June 2025 to June 2026, our community Banish Box has inspired meaningful environmental and social sustainability efforts beyond what many may have imagined. From reducing waste to promoting social and environmental responsibility for the spaces and places in our community we value so dearly, I’m blown away by what we’ve achieved together.

As a collective, our community has diverted through Banish and community partners 12,500+ individual items = 50+ kg of hard-to-recycle materials from landfill. That’s a lot of ‘rubbish’ which can now be transformed into products that will live a long life.

Our VivE&D is back!
Prior ot COVID, our community held an annual winter light festival to showcase children's inquiries through light. This year, we have reimagined it, with each of our learning groups literally bringing their work to light.

It was wonderful to see children joyfully showing family members their work and engaging in the installations - particularly the shredded paper show.

Happy 60th birthday, Play School! Thank you for all the work you do in promoting children's learning through play, creativity, curiosity and wonder.

8 years ago, we were super excited to welcome the Play School crew into our service to film segments for their iconic 'through the windows' segment. They honoured our awesome Boomerang Bags sustainability project and also filmed an epic giant 'box city' build. It was the pinnacle of our teaching careers.
