Week 1 of School Holidays

This week the children had an excursion to the movies where they watched “Paw Patrol The Dino Movie”. The children enjoyed their time and came back with many of their favourite parts during the movie. They also enjoyed baking on Monday, with educators help we made blueberry muffins! Monday afternoon when we went outdoors the children got to see a baby magpie in need of some help. We safely moved him away to go off on his own. Tuesday we decorated jars and made play dough. On Thursday the weather was unfortunately too wet so we stayed indoors and made pearla beads. The children got very creative with their designs. Across the week, the children had a mix of shared experiences that supported choice, creativity, and group connection.

OSHC Highlight of the week - 24th of September 2026

The children had been asking to make some OO-Blek, Bailey took the lead and made it with educator support. Together they chose the colour green. The children loved the science behind it, how it is firm to touch the stronger you play with it and it is runny and melts the more gentle you are with it. The children were amazed and listened carefully to Bailey as he explained how it worked and followed instructions when cleaning up after themselves. This experience gave the children a chance to explore a simple science material in a hands on way. Bailey showed confidence in leading the activity, and the others were interested in listening, watching, and testing the OO-Blek for themselves. In this moment, we could see children working together, sharing ideas, and taking part in the clean-up at the end. 💚

About the Role
As our OSHC Studio Leader, you will:
Lead and deliver high-quality Before School Care and After School Care programs, Monday to Friday.
Plan and facilitate engaging experiences during Pupil Free Days and School Holiday Programs.
Build positive relationships with children, families and the wider school community.
Create a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and belongs.
Inspire children through play-based learning, creativity and meaningful experiences.
Support a positive team culture while leading by example.

About You

Holds a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or an ACECQA-approved equivalent)
Has a genuine passion for working with school-aged children
Is enthusiastic, creative and brings a positive attitude every day
Enjoys leading programs and working collaboratively within a supportive team
Holds (or is willing to obtain):
Working With Children Check
Current First Aid and CPR
Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management qualifications
Child Safe Training

This week at OSHC, we celebrated NAIDOC Week through a variety of meaningful experiences that encouraged children to explore and appreciate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
The children observed Australian native birdlife, collected gum nuts for creative art, and used them to make painted decorations and miniature flower vases. They enjoyed an interactive reading of The Rainbow Serpent, participating with sound effects before working together to create a large Rainbow Serpent mural. Children also explored Aboriginal symbols and chose one to model using play-dough.
These experiences promoted cultural awareness, creativity, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation of NAIDOC Week through play-based learning.
