South Australian Representative! 🏑

Angaston PS would like to offer a huge congratulations to Year 6 student Jacob on his selection into the South Australian 12 and Under State Boys Hockey Team.

This is a huge honour and privilege for Jacob to wear the state colours and represent SA at the School Sport Australia National championships.

After many trials and travel to Adelaide, the time, dedication, resilience and hard work was all worth it to be selected in the highest representative team for his age group.

Jacob will travel to Newcastle, NSW in the last week of October for the weeklong festival of Hockey and compete against all the other states. This is truly a remarkable achievement and we hope you have the absolute best time playing, making new friendships, learning and further developing your Hockey and life skills which is what these national competitions are all about. You’ve demonstrated both district and our school values to the best of your ability while trialling and now training with the team.

Good luck and all the best Jacob to you and your family. Everyone at Angaston PS💙and from our SAPSASA district are extremely proud of your achievement.

Be your best and go SA!!!

Barossa and Light SAPSASA District Basketball Carnival 🏀

In week 5 our boys and girls Year 5/6 Basketball teams competed in the district Basketball Carnival held at the REX Tanunda.

It was a big day for everyone involved with some incredible basketball and team works skills on display. After a few trial sessions during lunchtimes at school our selected boys and girls teams battled it out against 11 other boys and girls teams from across our district. Our teams proudly wore our new school amazing multisport guernseys for the first time ever. These guernseys were co designed by the Year 5/6 students in PE/Health lessons and were partly funded through a grant with the AFL.

Our boys team coached by Mrs Shields played 4 games in their group finishing up with a couple of wins just missing out on playing in the semi finals. They demonstrated fantastic team work and leadership skills and helped each other out both on and off the court which was brilliant to see.

Our girls team coached by Mrs Schutz also played 4 group games whereby they finished in the top 2 of their group which meant a clash in the semi final against Freeling PS.

The girls demonstrated a complete team game on and off the court and came away with a brilliant win which meant they booked a big grand final clash against a very dominant Tanunda PS team so far in the carnival. In a very tight and even contest the girls played another brilliant game but just couldn’t get over the line as they lost by only 3 points. However in very good news, by making the grand final the girls will now play down at the School Sport SA State Country Finals day in week 2 next term at Wayville. This is a huge achievement for the girls and our school as for the first time in forever our school played in a basketball grand final and will be represented at the state finals day so well done girls and everyone involved.

A big thank you and well done to all the players, coaches and families for helping score and transported the girls to the venue very much appreciated.

Angaston proud! 💙

Well done and congratulations to Rani and Archie who were voted by the coaches as our Barossa and Light District Values awards recipients for demonstrating the district values throughout the day.

Book Week at Angaston Primary 📚

Week 6 was Book Week and the book buzz was travelling around the school all week. The theme ‘A Symphony of Stories’ was perfect for this year - head into the library to check out the wonderful display if you haven’t already.

On Friday we hosted a wonderful Book Week Parade which was hosted by our Librarian Heidi. It was wonderful to see all the characters! Thank you families for your effort and encouragement of your children 🫶🏼

Check out the pictures of the wonderful costumes!

Until next year… 🤠

STATE SOCCER CARNIVAL

Earlier this term, 4 Angaston PS students represented the Barossa and Light SAPSASA District Soccer (Football) team competing at the School Sport SA Soccer (Football) State carnival which was held at Gepps Cross. Our students gave their best efforts, demonstrating outstanding district and school values of persistence, resilience and determination playing 9 games across 3 days. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented the district and supported one another.

Well done to Jaxon, Alejandro who represented the boys team and Edith and Poppy who represented the girls team.
The boys weren’t far off the top placings while the girls teams finished 3rd.

Well done to all our competitors for embracing the journey from trials/trainings and the big week and for giving it your all.
You should be very proud of your efforts.

Angaston PS proud! 💙

During week 9 of Term 2, 6 students represented both the Barossa and Light girls and the Central Country boys Netball teams at this years School Sport SA State Netball Championships.

This year saw a change in venue with the carnival held at Golden Grove.

Students played 9 games of Netball across three days in cool conditions. Special shoutout to the following for representing Barossa and Light Sapsasa Girls Division 3 team Poppy, Anna, Gracie, Joan and of course Mrs Hearnden as coach of the division 1 team. The girls finished 3rd overall out of ten teams in division 3 winning 7 matches while with Mrs Hearnden’s team finished in 6th place out of 10 in division 1.

Oliver also played as he represented the combined Barossa/Gawler/Mid North district boys team known as Central Country where his team won a couple of games finishing 7th.

Well done to everyone involved on a fantastic state championships. All students displayed brilliant skills and we hope you learnt a lot and enjoyed your Netballing experience making some great memories and new friendships.
