πŸ’‹πŸŽΆ MISS KMIT TO YOU
AN EARTHA KITT TRIBUTE πŸŽΆπŸ’‹

After the wonderful response to our first Miss Kmit to You show in July, I’m thrilled to share that at least FOUR more shows are coming over the next few months! πŸŽ™οΈβœ¨

What began as a sample-sized show has grown into something I’m incredibly excited to continue developing and sharing.

A huge thank you to Sam Daffy for bringing his incredible talents on keys and backing vocals to the show 🎹🎢 β€” and to Speakeasy Theatre for giving us the opportunity to bring this very first performance to the stage.

Stay tuned β€” Miss Kmit to You is coming back!

On July 2nd, I performed my very first Eartha Kitt tribute show. Two nights before, I couldn't sleep. My mind was racing with every fear imaginable. What if I forgot the words? What if the fatigue won? What if I wasn't good enough? What if all the months of work I'd poured into this show left people disappointed? So I stepped outside, looked up at the moon, and in that quiet moment I felt my dad with me.
He passed away four years ago, but somehow I could hear him so clearly:
"What is life, if it is not lived? It is meant to be lived."
For so long, I'd allowed self-doubt to convince me that I wasn't ready. That I wasn't enough. That someone else was more deserving of standing on that stage.
But when I stepped out into that stage, something magical happened! I stopped worrying about being perfect and simply became present. I sang for my son. I sang for my dad. I sang for myself. And I sang for Eartha. It wasn't flawless. I stumbled. I made mistakes. But for the first time in a long time, I truly showed up as myself. And somehow, that felt far more important than perfection ever could. This show was born from an idea over a year ago, but I felt only just came together fully in the final three months. Every song, every word, every rehearsal, every costume, every prop, every piece of choreography and every tiny detail became a labour of love. It consumed me...and I'm so grateful it did. Sometimes our greatest dreams need us to believe in them before anyone else does.
Being a full-time mum has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I wanted my son to see that his mum doesn't stop chasing her dreams simply because life gets busy! God has blessed me with my singing voice, and I don't want to hide it anymore. When I chose to perform Miss Kmit to You, I wasn't just creating a tribute show. I was giving myself permission to become the performer I'd been too afraid to be.
Eartha Kitt once said, "I fall in love with myself, and I want someone to share it with me." I think I'm finally learning what she meant. Thank you to everyone who believed in me, encouraged me, bought a ticket, shared a post, or simply cheered me on from afar. Dad I hope I made you proud. πŸ’• οΏ½

Fifteen years ago, I performed in my very first cabaret show... so I thought it was time to do another one. This time a vintage jazz soiree tribute to Eartha Kitt!

Why Eartha Kitt?

After many years immersed in classical music and musical theatre, I wanted to explore something different and try my hand at jazz. There's something about jazz that I absolutely loveβ€”the soulful, relaxed way it can transport you to another world. Especially those beautiful tunes from the 1950s; they have my heart.

When I was growing up, my father always had a cassette tape playing in his classic car. One of those tapes was Eartha Kitt. I fell in love with her voice then, and that admiration has stayed with me ever since. Since my father passed away four years ago, I've also decided to dedicate this show to him and the wonderful memories we shared through music. He also had the most beautiful singing voice.

So, for my love of nostalgia, in honour of my father's musical influence, and to celebrate the glamour, wit, and mystery of Eartha Kitt, I am delighted to present my debut tribute cabaret:

Miss Kmit to You! πŸ’‹

I can't wait to share this special evening with you.

Here's a sneaky video of me singing at a local music theatre night !

I handed the music to the accompanist on the spot and had no rehearsal or time to practice except in the car on the way from another rehearsal the same day.

Loved the vintage mic !

Loved the vibe, enthusiasm of the audience and support from people I just met.

And loved belting this one out...even if it wasn't perfect.

Song : There won't be trumpets - Stephen Sondheim ( Anyone can whistle)
