Recently we had a visit from “Plastic Free Boy” who discusses the importance of nature, bees, gardens and our animals and the ways in which we care to them.
We were introduced to some soft toy characters, “Lee the Bee”, “Tilly the Turtle, Tiny Tim, Sunny the Sunflower, Delpha the Dolphin, Mark the Shark and Squirm the worm”.
Throughout the show Plastic free boy used music, song and dance to involve the children for interactive learning. There was a tv with short movies to watch to educate on us the importance of bees, home gardens and flowers. We used our body to follow actions and movements like fist in the air and chanting “WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD”, “WE ARE GARDENING SUPERHEROES”.

Last week Jewelz A Hoopz came to visit and teach the children all about different ways that they can show kindness to their friends, family and themselves. The children loved her kindness is my superpower show!

Recently we had a visit from Angela who presented her show- “The magical garden creatures” to promote little garden growers within Early Childhood.
The show combines physical fitness movements with yoga inspired poses to teach children about the environment and sustainability in a fun and active way. The performance encourages children to explore their imagination as they enter a magical garden and meet scarecrow characters, buzzworth the bee, Millie the mouse and other characters-caterpillar and a butterfly.

Today we acknowledged Autism Awareness Day by wearing the colour blue as a team. This showed a visual, solidarity approach in support of all children, families and staff who live with Autism, either directly or indirectly.
We as a centre are an inclusive centre for all children and families, and an equal opportunity workplace for all staff, regardless of ability, gender, age or race.
It is often hard to teach children about the specifics of Autism, however as a centre and a community we can teach acceptance, tolerance, empathy and support for all.

Recently we went for a walk into the community to follow on from Clean Up Australia Day.
At coles we observed where rubbish is disposed of and the way that they do this. We observed the cardboard was flattened and placed in a pile, the landfill had its own large bin and food waste is provided to local farmers to feed their animals.

What a great way to celebrate our end of year together. Although we have only been together for 6 weeks, our children and families deserve a nice celebration after a crazy couple of years.
A massive thank you to Santa, who brought all the children a present and to the The Wildlife Twins for bringing in an array of animals for the children and families to enjoy.
Bring on 2022 at Alstonville Early Learning.
