HELP BRUNY ISLAND DISTRICT SCHOOL WIN $10,000!

Our amazing school has entered the 7hofm School of the Year Giveaway for the chance to win $10,000 — we would LOVE your help!

As part of our nomination, we had to share what we would use the prize money for, and we have some very exciting plans…

🏀 NEW BASKETBALL HOOPS
Our kids absolutely love basketball, but our current hoops are showing their age and are desperately in need of a makeover!

🏐 NETBALL HOOPS
We now have TWO netball teams happening at our school, but we don’t actually have any netball hoops! 😱 New hoops would make such a difference to our kids and give them the opportunity to train and play right here at school.

🎶 MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
We also have an incredible band program for our Grade 4–6 students. Next year, we’ll have lots of Grade 3 students coming through ready to join, and they’ll need instruments! 🎷🥁🎺

Winning this $10,000 would mean so much to our little school. It would give our kids new sporting equipment to inspire them to get active, build confidence and keep developing their love of netball and basketball, as well as instruments to help nurture the next generation of wonderful young musicians. ❤️

✨ GALAXY SCHOOL DISCO 2026! ✨

What a wonderful night celebrating our school community! Our SRC chose the theme, and GALAXY was the winner!

Our amazing P&F volunteers transformed the Alonnah Hall into a magical galaxy world, and the kids danced the night away!

And of course, there was plenty of delicious food to keep everyone fuelled. We served up lasagne, Indonesian beef soup and vegetable curry, while our wonderful families brought along desserts to share. Tummies were nourished, hearts were full and there were plenty of happy faces!

A night like this simply could not happen without the incredible parents who give up their time and come along to support the P&F. We are so grateful for every one of you. ❤️

A very big thank you to Wina and Juny, who spent the whole day cooking and preparing the most delicious Indonesian beef soup and vegetable curry. And to Po for your wonderful contribution cooking the rice.

To our set-up and pack-down team. Thank you! You helped transform the Alonnah Hall and then packed it all away again. We couldn’t do it without you.

To our food servers and washing up team - thanks for helping make dinner run smoothly

To our DJ, Em. Thank you for putting the music together and being our DJ. Kids loved the song choices.

To all the families who brought along a dessert — thank you! They all looked absolutely delicious, and the kids were very excited to see the dessert table!

To Nancy — thank you for sponsoring our GALAXY theme props. You helped us create a truly magical space for the kids.

To our SRC - thank you for taking the lead, helping to set up the hall and for MC’ing the night.

To Kingborough Council — thank you for your ongoing support of our school fundraising events. We really appreciate it.

And lastly, to our wonderful principal Kye — thank you for always supporting the P&F and helping us make these events happen, and for everything you do for the Bruny kids.

Tonight was a beautiful reminder of what makes our school community so special. When everyone contributes what they can, magic happens.

Hello community 🌞
We've had an oddly low number of entries for the school calendar this year, and really need your input for it to go ahead. Previous years we've been inundated!
If you've got a nice shot of anything Bruny, preferably landscape format, send it through! The environment, birds, animals, people - it's all welcome.
It's an easy way to share your photos for all to enjoy, plus a great fundraiser for our little school.

We have some exciting news!

The final fundraising total from our Indonesian Dinner has now been confirmed, and we are thrilled to announce that, together as a community, we raised an incredible $20,859.06.

After expenses, the event delivered a fantastic profit of $17,892.79.

We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. The support, generosity and community spirit shown throughout this event has helped us take a significant step towards creating a new bike track and outdoor kitchen garden classroom for our students and wider school community.

We are also excited to share that the bike track is booked in to commence construction in September, and we are hoping the outdoor classroom will be completed by November. Fingers crossed, all going to plan.
