The Board of Directors wish to welcome our new CEO, Zania Liddle.

Alice Springs local Zania Liddle, a descendant of the Central Arrernte people of Mparntwe, is the new CEO for IAD which is celebrating its 50th year in 2019.

Zania’s interest in a career in education began at IAD in the 1980s. She first trained as a primary school teacher but has taught students of all ages, from secondary education to vocational training and also university.

Zania is best-known for her work as Teaching Principal of Ti Tree School, a remote school 200kms north of Alice Springs. Ti Tree was where Zania spent some of her childhood and returned decades later as the principal. For her work in Ti Tree, Zania wants to be remembered for her steely determination to maintain high standards and expectations for remote students, and to ensure quality education that remote Aboriginal people can be proud of.

Zania recently submitted her thesis for a Master of Education (Research) on Aboriginal leadership in education. She looks forward to leading the Institute to a productive and industrious future in the delivery of adult education and training underpinned by Aboriginal cultural knowledge and thinking with the support of local elders.

Welcome Zania, we wish you all the best and look forward to working with you.
