PERTAME COMMUNITY – ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING
We warmly invite all Pertame members to join us for our Annual Members Meeting on Wednesday, 7 October. This is a special opportunity for us to come together as a community, reflect on what we have achieved over the past year, hear updates about the Corporation and School, and talk together about where we are heading next.
Most importantly, your voice matters. We encourage all members to come along, share your thoughts and ideas, ask questions, and help shape the future of our community.

We had a beautiful team building meeting with our Language Nest staff today, while the kids enjoyed some time playing together at the park. Our Language Nest is strengthening and supporting our mothers and grandmothers to take the lead in the revival of Pertame for their babies. When our families are strong in language, our babies have the best chance of growing up hearing, speaking and living Pertame every day. It was a great opportunity for our team to come together, reflect on our work and strengthen how we support our families and our language journey. And of course, we couldn’t finish the day without singing Happy Birthday to Courtney! 🎂🎉

A big thank you to our Language Nest team for the love, commitment and hard work you continue to put into building the next generation of Pertame speakers.

The Pertame School team came together for a wonderful night at the local Mparntwe NAIDOC 2026 Ball to celebrate the incredible finalists, winners and achievements of our community.

A very special congratulations to Auriel Swan on winning the Education award! Auriel is a proud Pertame woman, educator, grandparent and community leader who is doing so much to carry forward the legacy of her late mother and keep Pertame language and culture strong for future generations. We are so proud to see Auriel recognised for the strength, love and leadership she brings to her family, community and the Pertame Language Nest every day.

A huge congratulations also to the team at Centre for Australian Languages and Linguistics for winning the Innovation Award for their Angkentye yerrtye ileme – Arrernte Street Signs project. It is so wonderful to see our languages being recognised, celebrated and made visible across Mparntwe.

And a massive thank you to the NAIDOC Week Alice Springs Committee, who gave countless volunteer hours to bring together such a special event. These celebrations take an enormous amount of work, and we are grateful for everything that goes on behind the scenes.

It was beautiful to see Alice Springs come together in such a positive way to celebrate the incredible work happening on the ground, by community, for community.

Congratulations to all the finalists, winners and everyone who continues to make our community stronger

A huge thank you to Baker Boy for coming to visit our Pertame School kids at our Language Nest. During an incredibly difficult time for our family and community, your visit brought so much joy, laughter and happiness to our children. We are so grateful for the time you spent with them.

Baker Boy is such an incredible role model for our children by showing them just how far you can go when you are proud of who you are, where you come from, and your Indigenous language and culture. Seeing someone proudly sing and perform in their language on such a big stage is incredibly powerful for our kids.

Our Pertame kids shared one of our songs in Pertame with Baker Boy, and we were so grateful when he kindly gifted us tickets to his show in Alice Springs. It was so special to see him shine in his element and experience the energy of his performance together as a school.

We also loved connecting with Alice Kings at the show, more incredible young role model for our kids.

Thank you, Baker Boy, for helping our children see what is possible.

Our Pertame kids had a beautiful day out at Araluen Park! 🌿

The kids had a wonderful time running around, playing together, enjoying some healthy food and, most importantly, spending time with family and speaking Pertame.

Days like this are so special to create happy memories, strengthening connections to family and culture, and giving our children opportunities to learn and use Pertame in everyday life.

A beautiful day of family, culture, language and connection. 💚

Our Pertame kids did a beautiful job learning and singing Nearer, My God, to Thee in Pertame to honour their Nana, Pebi and great-great-grandmother at her service. ❤️

It was such a special and emotional moment for our children to honour her through language and song.

A huge thank you to Chris from ABC for capturing this incredible moment for us to share in the church. We are so grateful to have this beautiful memory preserved. ❤️
