📚 Learning to read is life-changing. And at Alexandra Hills, we take that responsibility seriously.

Today, Mrs Griffiths and Ms Farrell attended Queensland’s Reading Symposium, learning alongside some of Australia’s leading experts in reading research and instruction.

At Alexandra Hills, our approach to reading is evidence-informed, explicit and carefully sequenced. From building strong foundations in phonics and word reading, to developing vocabulary, background knowledge and deep language comprehension, our goal is simple: to give every child the knowledge and skills they need to become a successful reader.

We continue to invest in the learning of our staff so that the teaching happening in our classrooms reflects the strongest current evidence about how children learn to read.

❤️💙 Every day. Every classroom. Every child 💙❤️

🤖💻 Innovate, create, compete! 💡⚙️

A huge congratulations to our talented Year 6 students who represented our school at the Innovate Competition at Alexandra Hills State High School on Friday!

Our team put their problem-solving, creativity and teamwork to the test across the coding and robotics challenges — and came away with an incredible 2nd place in the Coding Challenge! 🥈💻

Our boys also did a fantastic job in the Robotics Challenge, showing some seriously impressive skills, persistence and teamwork. 🤖👏

We are so proud of the way our students represented our school and embraced the challenge. What a clever bunch of innovators! 💙❤️

🌅🐠 Good morning from SEA LIFE!

We can confirm… the Year 4 campers survived their night sleeping under the sea! 😂🐟 Jury’s still out on whether Mrs Griffiths, Mrs Reynolds and Miss M survived.

After a very memorable sleepover in the tunnel, we’re up, getting organised, filling our bellies and getting ready for another big day of camp adventures.

There may be a few sleepy faces this morning… but there are plenty of smiles too! 💙

What a night to remember! 🦈✨
